It’s August 20, 2022. Welcome to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (U.S.).
Today’s word is “closed.”
Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.
Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Please check to confirm that your pingback is there. If not, please manually add your link in the comments.
And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. Show them some love.

We took a drive recently around our old neighborhood. We couldn’t quite remember where that fabulous pizza place was but my husband was certain we’d find it. As we drove around, memories started coming back. We saw the church where we got married and the laundromat we used for two week while we were waiting for our new washer/dryer to arrive. But what smacked us in the face like a harsh winter wind was how many one-time thriving businesses were closed, all shut down and boarded up because COVID drove everyone away. Door after door with “Closed” signs hanging in the front door. To think of the masses of lives lost, the livelihoods destroyed, people out on the street because places were closed – what a horror that realization was. May God protect us from anything like that ever happening again. The devastation would be too much to bear.

Yes, many of those who didn’t even contract the disease had their lives entirely disrupted.
