Weekend Writing Prompt — In the Year 2022

2020 sucked.
2021 wasn’t much better.
I had high hopes for 2022.
That it might be a great year.
Or at least a good year.
Well, maybe just not a bad year.
But the first half of 2022
Has been a disappointment.
The trend isn’t promising.

(Exactly 46 words)

This rather glum piece was written for Sammi Cox’s Weekend Writing Prompt, where the word is “year.” Also for The Daily Spur (great) and Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (trend).

2023 has a lot to cover for. It’s frightening to me, and I’m glad that others still have hope in their repertoire. I’m willing to settle for a wee bit better.

😯 Whoops! It looks as though I inadvertently took part in the prompt. I published something pertaining to the year 2022 on my blog.

By the way, I love your personal take on the prompt, Fandango!

I hope so, but I thought that of 2021, too. I was wrong.

Well they say bad things come in threes so if 20, 21 and 22 are all bad years we should have a big upswing come 2023!
