Welcome once again to Fandango’s Provocative Question. Each week I will pose what I think is a provocative question for your consideration.
By provocative, I don’t mean a question that will cause annoyance or anger. Nor do I mean a question intended to arouse sexual desire or interest.
What I do mean is a question that is likely to get you to think, to be creative, and to provoke a response. Hopefully a positive response.
My provocative questions recently have been pretty heavy, so I thought I’d lighten things up a bit this week.
I read a post today from Ally Bean at The Spectacled Bean in which she posted the results from an informal survey in which she asked her readers to tell her their favorite ice cream flavors. The top three were vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry, which I thought was very boring. Seriously, people? Vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry?
So I thought I’d dig a little deeper and ask you, my blogging friends, to respond to this post by answering this question:
What is your favorite ice cream? Please list not only your favorite flavor, but also the brand that is your favorite. Please be specific.
Let me give you an example of what I’m looking for. I like Cookies and Cream ice cream (which flavor inexplicably didn’t make Ally Bean’s published list). And my preferred brand of Cookies and Cream ice cream is Breyers. But my very favorite flavor and brand of ice cream is Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream from Ben & Jerry’s.
If you choose to participate, write a post with your response to the question. Once you are done, tag your post with #FPQ and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Or you can simply include a link to your post in the comments. But remember to check to confirm that your pingback or your link shows up in the comments.
Thanks for mentioning my post. My favorite ice cream flavor, Spumoni, didn’t make the list. It’s almost impossible to find anymore and usually only at Christmas. As for my second favorite ice cream flavor, you’re not going to like this answer. I like Vanilla Bean. Graeter’s, a regional ice cream company, makes the best one ever.

Vanilla, huh? Oh well, I guess chocolate chip cookie dough is not for everyone. I’ve only had spumoni once and I wasn’t a fan. Maybe because I don’t like pistachios. But, as they say, different strokes for different folks.

I’m too much of a purist to like any ice cream that has so much “stuff” in it, though I guess you could force me to eat it. Interesting that chocolate ice cream isn’t anyone’s favorite.

Chocolate was #2 in Ally Bean’s survey.

I commented at length (what else?) on your blog Ally, and the flavor at the end of that ought to have been SPUMONI, not Pistachio. I just couldn’t pull spumoni of the mind bank. Now you got your two votes for spumoni. 😊😁

YAY! Just found this comment after I replied at length to yours. It’s nice to met another fan of that flavor. 😋

I like it too, but then again I love pistachios. But I’ve never seen it for sale out here. In Boston you could get it, but out here? Nah.

Marilyn, it’s a rare treat where I live, too. Available around Christmas but that’s about it.

Sounds interesting. I like coffee, but I’m not a fan of coffee-flavored ice cream

I missed that blog by Ally Bean but here is mine. Haagen Daaz Caramel Cone. Love all the flavors in that brand. 😀

I might have to give that a try.

Wow, I am just working on a post about ice cream, but to answer your provocative question, my all-time favourite is “Cherries Jubilee” from Baskin Robbins: “Cherry flavoured ice cream, cherry halves, and a hint of rum flavour.” A close second is “Cherry Garcia” from Ben & Jerry’s: “Cherry ice cream with cherries and fudge chunks.”

I see you like cherries! 😉

I’m not a fan of ice cream due to sensitive teeth. And I’m glad that at least this isn’t adding to my weight gain.

My fave is maple walnut but it’s hard to find here.

That was a fun choice for a question this week. Here is mine but I forgot to mention Royal Copenhagen is another favourite of mine.

A good vanilla ice cream is good with EVERYTHING 😀 Thanks for making this lightweight. It’s been a very heavy week.

Yes, it has been. Way too heavy.

[I really don’t like Ben & Jerry’s version of cookie dough (although I like real cookie dough).] Right now… my favorites are Cherry Garcia (Ben & Jerry’s) and (I’ll have to find the brand name as I’ve simply, so far, picked it up at Target by visual from the small-container section where I can get the Ben & Jerry’s too) a chocolate chunk and swirl with pretzel mixed amongst a rich vanilla. I see that if I have the opportunity to go to Baskin Robbins, I’d like to order a scoop of cherries jubilee and, perhaps, a scoop of something chocolate additionally.

Eton mess, raspberry, white chocolate, and meringue pieces or toffee. I don’t like chocolate, it has a processed taste.

It’s been years since I’ve had ice cream. But earlier on I loved Sweet Cream Vanilla at a local ice cream shop, and I like Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia a lot, too. 🙂

Years ago, I remember pistachio ice-cream in the South of France was amazing. I remember having a Ben & Jerrys peanut butter caramel wonderful ice-cream, but then I started to find dairy was making me ill. So nowadays vegan ice-cream is better for me. There is a nice one made by Jude’s which is salted caramel flavour, and I love Swedish Glace Vanilla ice-cream. I would love to find a coffee flavoured vegan ice-cream.

I have a dairy-free “sorbetto” Cold Brew Coffee flavor by Talenti (also bought from Target).

It has egg (white and yolk) though, so it’s not vegan. Sorry

It’s more dairy free than vegan I need Marleen – I have been vegetarian since I was six – and had much too much dairy and then struggled in my twenties to cope with anymore! I can have a little very occasionally, but I avoid yogurt, milk, ice-cream etc and only have dairy free alternatives.

The Talenti brand is good if you can find it.

I’ve tasted some vegan ice “cream.” It was okay. But I prefer the real thing!
