Welcome once again to Fandango’s Provocative Question. Each week I will pose what I think is a provocative question for your consideration.

By provocative, I don’t mean a question that will cause annoyance or anger. Nor do I mean a question intended to arouse sexual desire or interest.

What I do mean is a question that is likely to get you to think, to be creative, and to provoke a response. Hopefully a positive response.

This week’s provocative question is focused on something that might be more specific to Americans, but for those of you who live outside of the United States and who have an opinion or perspective on the topic, please feel free to weigh in.

The topic at hand is the House Select Committee Hearings investigation the January 6, 2021 attack by Trump supporters on the U.S. Capitol Building. I’ve been diligently watching the televised hearings this month and, to me, they have been riveting.

These hearings have exposed Trump’s Big Lie about the 2020 presidential election, which was decisively won by Joe Biden, and which Donald Trump has yet to concede, having been stolen from him. They have also proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Trump knows the election wasn’t “stolen” from him even as he continues to this day to publicly claim it was. The hearings have also demonstrated how Trump and a handful of his advisers have attempted by clearly illegal means, to overturn the election results even though they knew there was no legal basis to do so. And they have also made it completely clear that Donald Trump instigated the violent attack on the U.S. Capitol Building on January 6th, and, while watching the whole assault on the Capitol live on TV, Trump, like Nero in Rome, metaphorically fiddled while America burned.

So my multiple questions this week are:

Have you been watching, or at least following the news about, the Select Committee televised hearings?

Do you agree or disagree with my assessment of what has come out of the hearings thus far?

Do you think that Trump and others who took part in the attempt to overturn the election should be criminally charged and incarcerated.

Do you think that they will be criminally charged and incarcerated?

    I haven’t been watching these proceedings but if there is justice in America, Trump and his cohorts should be charged

    I have been following the hearings, watching excerpts online and reading news articles about it. It seems to me that the committee has done a good job in assembling and presenting the evidence. It’s been damning.
    Do I think that Trump and co. should be criminally charged? Yes, I certainly do.
    Do I think they will be? Sadly no, I don’t. Maybe some of the minor players but Trump is Teflon. At best we can hope it derails his 2024 ambitions.

    I think the only good coming out of it is letting the American public know what really happened thus killing Trump’s further chances

    Will Trump be charged? You’ve got to be joking….

    Yes I have watched or read about it. The first additional video footage was sickening and extremely upsetting. I agree with your assessment of the hearings. Of course I feel all involved should be prosecuted and that Trump and Giuliani should be arrested and put in jail along with any of the other participants who threatened, mobbed or harassed election officials, etc. This has gone on too long and Trump and his cronies should all be incarcerated. And the last question – so far the power Trump yields has shown that probably the answer is no. It would be a miracle!

    I haven’t watched, but sometimes I read about them. I’ve already made up my mind from previous news that Trump tried to illegally overthrow the election and that he spurred on the rioters. I believe others in his admin along with some Republicans in Congress share the blame. They all should go to prison, imo, but I believe they will all escape responsibility and nothing will happen after the hearings. Trump will run again and likely win because of all the insane gerrymandering and voting restrictions that have been put in place recently 🙁

        Some of my family agree but because they are tired of the gas prices and inflation with Biden. It’s not all his fault but he will be blamed so Trump still lives😖😡

    Trump has said he lost, but hasn’t come to a podium and said, “I hereby concede.” Screw that.

    I’ve been keeping up. What is being shown is far beyond a lie, big or small. Tons of crimes.

    I don’t want to venture a guess as to whether or not there’ll be prosecutions or incarcerations.

          So, if I have this right you don’t mind taxation that is put forward by “your representatives,” and that you want the Government to keep its privates (an corporals), out of your privates.

            Definitely want to keep the privates and corporals out of my privates. I’m pretty pissed off about how our excuse-for-a-government establishment currently (as in maybe since the Vietnam War and the military-industrial complex and rise of corporate state especially since the eighties) is running the place. We are degenerating into a pathetic den of greed and inhumanity.

              I should say, in a larger sense, “privatized” state (the wordings around private companies, corporate entities, et cetera are mushy). I’m not sure how much we, the actual people (as in people and not money-making-machines), are being represented any more.

    For the uninitiated, a “bagging limit” is defined as “a law imposed on hunters and fishermen restricting the number of animals within a specific species or group of species they may kill and keep.” “Tagging limit” is more of the same, again referencing the total number of a specific animal species a hunter can kill. “RINO,” the species in question here, is an acronym that means “Republican In Name Only,” which by this point appears to refer to anyone in the GOP to the left of those who are stoked to shoot their political opponents.

    The ad, which does not give one hint or inkling at any time that it should not be taken fully at face value, comes just one day after Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois announced on ABC News that he’d received mailed threats of violence at his home. Kinzinger, one of two Republicans holding public hearings related to the January 6 investigation, warned of “violence in the future.”
