The idea behind Who Won the Week is to give you the opportunity to select who (or what) you think “won” this past week. Your selection can be anyone or anything — politicians, celebrities, athletes, authors, bloggers, your friends or family members, books, movies, TV shows, businesses, organizations, whatever.
If you want to participate, write your own post designating who you think won the week and why you think they deserve your nod. Then link back to this post and tag you post with FWWTW.
This week’s Who (or in the case, What) Won the Week Winner is letting ‘em rip. It seems that the inability to release gas (i.e., farts) is a medical condition called “trapped farts” (or “trapped gas”). It occurs when methane does not move through one’s intestines normally, causing sufferers “sharp pain or discomfort in their abdomen.” The condition is generally caused by certain foods and underlying medical conditions, like irritable bowel syndrome, rather than abstaining from cutting the cheese.

However, an article came to my attention this week about Brazilian singer-songwriter Viviane de Queiroz Pereira, who had to be hospitalized after her reluctance to fart in front of her significant other resulted in a dangerous gas buildup. She refused to let ‘em rip because she wasn’t on “farting terms” with her boyfriend. She said that she heeded advice from a TikTok thread that told her to ignore the “stomach pains,” which eventually resulted in her having to report to the doctor with an “accumulation of trapped farts.”
Fortunately, doctors were able to relieve Pereira of her natural gas reserves. “Girls, don’t be ashamed to fart in front of your guy, because what’s really embarrassing is not letting your guy sleep because you’re in discomfort, going to hospital with your guy, and the diagnosis being ‘trapped farts,’” said Pereira. “From now on, I’m letting them rip, guys.”
So here’s to you, Viviane de Queiroz Pereira, and for just letting ‘em rip.
What about you? Who (or what) do you think won the week?
Also, room freshener…

I have never been embarrassed to fart, and in fact I am quite proud of the sounds and the aroma.

My pick is this same reporter who was involved in discovering the Nixon gap (in Nixon’s voluntarily-made recordings).

Bob Woodward compares Trump call log gap to infamous Nixon tapes gap
Pulitzer Prize-winning Washington Post Associate Editor Bob Woodward joins MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell to discuss the “astonishing” seven hour and 37 minute gap on Trump’s call log from January 6, noting one lawmaker said it looks like “a possible coverup.” March 30, 2022

This was an interesting conversation, the next day.

Trump’s violent call: See Jan. 6 rally leader confronted over march on the Capitol
A key January 6 rally organizer subpoenaed by the committee investigating the deadly insurrection speaks out in an exclusive interview with MSNBC’s Ari Melber as the Department of Justice’s criminal probe into the riot expands. The former Trump fundraiser, Caroline Wren, recounts what testifying was like, why she cooperated, and her views on the other Trump allies who have been subpoenaed in the probe. Melber also presses Wren on Trump’s culpability for the insurrection and the number of rallygoers that then went on to attack the Capitol. March 31, 2022

I remember the recovery room from a colonoscopy I had. We were all tucked nicely in our stalls and the women were all complaining that their stomachs hurt. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of one of these they pump you full of air so the camera can do its thing. Anyway the nurse is telling the women one by one like a recording on repeat. You have to let it out and they are all embarrassed “Mmmm I couldn’t do that, oh not me.”. Meanwhile over in the guys section there’s a bloody brass band playing. Funny most of the ladies were still there after we’d all gone tho.

Yes, I’ve had several such procedures. And yes, it’s a gas, gas, gas!
