Confessions of Feelings

“I wasn’t expecting this at all,” Sara said. “You don’t exactly typify the type man who would otherwise trigger such strong emotions in me.”

“Oh?” the man said. “Could you elucidate on that just a bit?”

Sara blushed a little. “Well, I can usually hold my emotions in check,” she said, “but I have to admit that my pulse is racing and I can actually hear the volume of my beating heart in my ears. It’s like nothing I’ve ever felt before.”

“You have a reservoir of deep feelings that you’ve kept bottled up inside of you, my dear,” the man said. “Sometimes the best thing you can do is to just let it flow.”

“But these feelings,” Sara said, “they’re not right. They’re not proper.”

“It is not uncommon, child,” the man said, “to have such feelings toward an authority figure. Be not recalcitrant when obedience to your desires is called for.”

“So how should I handle this?” Sara asked. “What counsel can you offer me?”

There was a moment of silence. The man said, “You must leave immediately and in thirty minutes meet me in my chambers, where we can get deeper into what you’re experiencing.”

“Yes, Father,” Sara said obediently as she left the confessional.”
