The first time I contributed, but I have been following your site via pensively 101 for about a year.
There are gateways
To other worlds
Hidden all over the world
Sam Adams
Was a researcher
For the Cosmos Institute
And was tracking
All the rumored gateways
He found one in SF
A doorway to hell
Beneath the city streets
In the tenderloin
He went to the door
And opened it
And saw the entrance
To hell
He entered the gateway
Slowly walking down the stairs
Never to be seen again.

In an unlikely turn of events, I’m laughing at the picture. I was reminded, in the last few minutes, that basic geometry is a challenge around here. The photo is not of simple geometry, but is not terribly complicated either. I was somewhat mesmerized the first time I saw it… a day or two ago. The inside of a front door is going to be painted. How can that be occasion for confusion or an argument? Oh… yeah… remember the hours-long loss of sense over parallelograms v rectangles v a basic quadrilateral? Shit. Here we are again. Oh, and symmetrical. Jeez
Imagine trying to have a conversation with someone who likes to think of himself as a genius but who has to be reminded that these words have meanings. I didn’t say “symmetrical” just for the fun of hearing the phonemes coming out of my mouth, but because this side should ordinarily match that side. (Now, if he was planning something like sunflowers* on one side on purpose, it could be a different thing. That’s not what is occurring. He’s not thinking ahead.) Imagine trying to have a conversation with someone who at all feels compulsed to view himself a “genius.”

{It’s something to have tested a certain way sometime in one’s life — if that’s even a thing that actually happened for you and this isn’t just another word with no definition — while It’s quite another situation to decide (in either case and no matter which), I have near zero room for interaction and discussion; if there is space for that, it’s an existential crisis moment.}
