SoCS — Have a Nice Trip

Linda G. Hill has given us the word “trip” for this week’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt. If you read my previous post about my wife and me adopting a rescue dog, then you know that that experience, now entering it’s third day today, has been a real trip.

Sometimes I look back on our decision earlier this week to proceed with the adoption and think that we must have been tripping when we made it. We were finally in a position, with no pets to consider, to do some traveling, to take a few day or even weekend trips here and there, or maybe even to rent an RV and visit some of our glorious national parks.

But with a brand new young dog in the house, and with all the attention she requires, taking a trip at this time is not an option. That said, we lost our previous dog in November 2020 and we just lost our cat at the end of January, so it is kinda nice to have a dog again to take care of. We hope it will be good for her and good for us, as well.

Okay, no more posts about our newest family member, at least not for a while. And if any of you have any fun trips on your horizon, all I can say to you is have a nice trip.

Nope, but I, too, have a new puppy on my horizon. Bet you knew that, though, as I never made a vow to curb my puppy posts!

Yes, I’ve read all about Zoe. So cute. And so much smaller than our 60-pounder.

I can’t imagine life without a cat in the house, so I understand your dog adoption. It gets pretty quiet without the furry beings around. I have been thinking about a kitten to keep Gibbs company, but then I worry that he really doesn’t need or want another cat nose in the house. He has it pretty good with all of my attention directed at him.

My son and daughter-in-law have two cats who get along most of the time but periodically get into some serious cat fights. It was a tough choice between getting another cat or another dog, but my wife’s preference for dogs prevailed.
