Sky View

While sitting and relaxing on my back deck this afternoon enjoying the 70+°F weather, I looked up towards the sky to see a half moon, some interesting, swirling, wispy clouds, and the fading remains of jet contrails crossing across the sky. So I whipped out my trusty iPhone and took this picture.

I applied the “clarity” filter from the Camera+ app on my iPhone, which intensified the blue color in the sky ever so slightly and highlighted the clouds and the contrails. I’m no photographer, but I liked the end result so much that I just had to post it here. I hope you like it as much as I do.

Great capture! I love how the jet contrail looks like a rip in the sky. As if there’s a glitch in the continuum of they sky…

I can see Satan in the clouds, with his head just above the jet contrail and he has a long pointy tail. Some of his minions are standing by to do his bidding.

I like it. So much here to grab the imagination. In the clouds I can see two dog/lion/wolf faces. While a half-moon floats and thinks. About the mess we’re making to what it enjoys looking at each revolution?

I’m hoping that temps in the 80s won’t happen here before April.

I was thinking, today, of the near-constant spring — birds chirping actively in the middle of winter,m — and the contrast of that with the unending winter of Narnia. Then there’s the “silent” spring concept, and the threat of everything drying or burning up. Kinda no point in thinking about any of that, I think I’ll just enjoy the weather. And I gotta find the clarity filter.

70+°?????? Oh please send me some of that!!! Almost 40° here, but even at that the ice from the last ice storm hasn’t melted and the sidewalks are treacherous … even after I poured a whole box of salt on them! I love the picture … enjoy your weather!

Thanks. The weather in the San Francisco Bay Area ALMOST makes the cost of living here worth it.

My first 18 years on earth were spent between NYC and the SF Bay Area … we lived off and on in Palo Alto and San Mateo, and I loved it! Haven’t been back since the 1970s, so I imagine much has changed, but the weather is still mild, I see!

Yes, much has changed, but the weather is still a bonus.

This is how you become a photographer. You like the picture. You try another one and maybe you like that even better. Then, one day, you decide you could use a camera with a different lens — and you’re hooked. Don’t fight it. It’s a GOOD thing.

I’ve always enjoyed taking snapshots, but I don’t think of said snapshots as photographs. There is a distinction between the two, at least in my mind.
