#WDYS — Three Young Men

Three young men in the hood
Standing next to the curb
Laughing, joking, carrying on
Not bothering a soul

Then someone called 9-1-1
Claiming there was a disturbance
The cops rolled in, guns in hand
“Stop, hands up,” the cops yelled

The three men started running
The crack of a gunshot rang out
One of the three young men
Lay dead in the street

Three young men in the hood
Standing next to the curb
Laughing, joking, carrying on
Not bothering a soul

What a tragic depiction of today’s scenario! Thanks for joining in Fandango

Wow… you say you’re not a poet, but that got me crying (as the tragedy honestly-faced should).

It’s a very sad life for many young, black men.

It is the sad truth that this happens to so many young, black men. Life has changed for the better, but isn’t perfect.

As ironic as this reads, it is sadly true. If only we were accepting and understanding, and not so suspicious about everything, fueled by prejudice.

“If only” is right. Unfortunately, we’re not.

Wonderfully written account of a too often true scenario.
