I told the bartender that I was concerned about the direction my life was taking and was wondering aloud about some upcoming decisions I had to make. A woman who must have overheard my conversation sat down on the stool next to mine. She leaned over, put her lips to my ear, and whispered somewhat surreptitiously that she could help me out. “I’m clairvoyant,” she said. “I can see into the future.”
“So you purport to be able to predict my future?” I asked. “Pardon me if I’m skeptical.”
“Many people struggle when it comes to believing in my skills,” she said, “but my guidance has aided many who, like you, stood at crossroads in their lives. She suggested that we leave the bar and go to her home which she said would be more conducive for a reading.
“Fine, why not?” I said, and followed her outside. She handed me the keys to her silver Honda Accord and asked me to drive.
Once we got to her home she led me into a room dimly lit by flickering candles and smelling of burning incense. We sat at a round table with a silk tablecloth draping it. She sat down directly across the table from me. She reached out to hold my hands, closed her eyes, and started to speak in a language I didn’t understand.
Suddenly she pulled her hands from mine, looked at me with fear in her eyes as I jumped across the table and sank my two, elongated canine teeth deep into her neck.
I looked down at the lifeless body and said, “Some clairvoyant you are. You sure didn’t see this coming.”

I don’t trust “the invisible hand” of economic markets either.
