FOWC with Fandango — Play

FOWC

Welcome to December 29, 2021 and to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (U.S.).

Today’s word is “play.”

Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.

Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Please check to confirm that your pingback is there. If not, please manually add your link in the comments.

And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. You will marvel at their creativity.

    ODE TO PLAY

    Sometimes I play for serious
    At other times for fun
S’why FCS I named my site
(Have not a prize yet won)

Despite being nominated for Poet Laureate?…….

Maybe I should be writing proper poetry…….

Are you saying that your poetry is improper?

Improper poetry is all the rage in the underground at present Fan At their Friday meetings I present the adventures of Trixxy and Lexxy . Murmurs of approval Fan. True ‘improper’ stuff. The WP Board of Poetry don’t like me. Lowering the standards they say. Oh well, cest la vie……

Should my comments be considered as dramatic compositions or just fun, perhaps a trifling of words that can amuse or be taken as a serious attempt at contributing to the FOWC Fandango 🙂

    The word for the day,
    … is play…
    ….. okay,
Mm, so what’ll rhyme with play?

I have no intention of creating an essay,
So it needs to be short and still convey,
… enough to qualify as the word of the day,
    For this Wednesday,
    Which is now, today!
So precise and not a screenplay,
    … or an essay,
Or something else that is passe,
… or anything that will fray,
    Or decay,
    Or crumble away,
    Into nothing and become astray!

Play, mm tis a hard one with no eay pathway …
… although maybe there’s room for a relay,
So what could l use as a runway for the relay,
    With play?
    Wordplay, reggae, subway,
    X-ray, cat away, come away,
    Groundhog Day, Christmas Day,
    New Year’s Day!
Oh no, that’s not yet here yet not present day?

Mm, oh l give up, l have no idea for play?
    … not straight away,
    Anyway!

Gee, Rory, I have to say,
      It’s much to my dismay
      That on this day
      You couldn’t find a way
to come up with anything for “play.”
      But hey,
      That’s okay
      Because tomorrow is another day.

Hey Fandango, oh so very true …
… tomorrow is indeed another day,
That l will respond to another FOWC from you,
… in which l shall wrestle with and toy and play!

        OH there we go!
        Play 🙂

This might be fun, or a good bedtime story.
