I just found out that my daughter and her live-in boyfriend both tested positive for COVID. Both are fully vaccinated and boosted, as am I. I was with them on Sunday and Tuesday. And was scheduled to be with them and my son, daughter-in-law, and grandkids on Saturday, Christmas Day. The operative word being “was.”
I took a home COVID antigen test earlier today and the results were negative. I’ll do another home test on Saturday and I’m scheduled to be have a PCR test, which is more sensitive, a week from today at a state testing facility.
I can’t imagine that I won’t test positive the next time I take the test, given that I spent multiple unmasked hours with my daughter and her boyfriend and hugged them both upon arrival and departure.
In the meantime, I’m going to self-isolate for the next few weeks, assuming that I’ll test positive on one of the two upcoming COVID tests.
What a wonderful way to end 2021 and to start 2022.
Oh no that’s a shame, well if you do test positive I hope you don’t suffer with the symptoms too much

I went to the bank and the grocery store today and I saw many more people not wearing masks than there were people wearing them. It seems like they don’t even care.

You live in Florida, where the governor and most of the state legislators frown on mask mandates.

The title was ominous even before reading. I feel for you.
My family are double vaccinated and happened to unknowingly be in contact with a covid carrier a few days ago. They are now required to self-isolate and do the required tests at state clinics. Christmas is cancelled. Cest la vie. Will we ever get this menace under control Fan?….

As long as those idiots who refuse to get vaccinated and who refuse to wear masks keep on doing what they’re doing, we won’t get this menace under control, I’m afraid.

I’m with you. OK freedom of choice is one thing but I draw the line when it threatens the health/safety of the community.
Everyone has become too lax now. It is mandated we wear masks on public transport. When the pandemic started I would see police checking. Now never. You can’t chat them yourself. They just don’t care.
We’re meant to scan contact codes on entering stores. Many don’t. Do any any staff check at the door?. No, never.
Having said this, and despite mandates, much still depends on trust.
What angers me is those who just couldn’t care less about endangering the health of others.
Am I living in a dream Fan?…..
No, maybe I’m having trouble living in the real world…..

❤ I'm so sorry to hear this. I know a lot who are going to be self-isolating over this weekend after a positive test. Not what they expected when they went out and got their jabs. ❤

Sorry to hear this and especially that it prevents you from staying connected to your family, who I know you are close to, over the actual holidays. Some suggest that COVID may eventually be like the flu–very contagious, not so harmful to people with vaccinations and/or good access to prompt medical care, but potentially dangerous to those who refuse to protect themselves (and others). I hope your “case” is as light as possible.

I wonder, if one goes to a large public event where people are supposed to be vaccinated (while I have insider information that a few people will try to get in anyway), and someone infected is there (whether vaccinated or not as we can now see doesn’t guarantee anything), is one exposed? I turned down an invitation to a very populated place, a couple days ago, because I have an eye doctor appointment next week. I don’t want to lie to them or risk missing the appointment (wherein I will buy new, additional, glasses, maybe purple). Then I will be able to get new lenses in some, old, blue glasses. Since I passed on that, the person I live with took the opportunity to run with me being an excuse… such that we aren’t doing anything this week. He wasn’t going to do anything for Thanksgiving, but he went along when I (unaware of his continued phobia despite being inoculated and boosted) said I was going even though extended family (for example, mother and sister of a son’s wife) aren’t vaccinated. So… I’m not going to lie (abuse informed consent in that the doctor accepting patrons if they haven’t been exposed within a timeframe is consent).
I trust that your daughter, her boyfriend, and you yourself will be fine.

Thanks, Marleen. I’m hoping we’ll all be fine, too, although unlike my daughter and her boyfriend, I’m an old fart, which puts me in a high risk category. I guess what will be will be.

I do believe the vaccine reduces the effect on the individual, especially for old farts.

I hope somone has encouraged you to take high doses of vitamin D. The source one of the men in the video mentions is lanolin (and, when it comes from that, I don’t think they name it on the labels), but it also can come from fish liver oil. This guest is super famous in the rockstar scientist kind of way, but most people won’t know it by seeing his name; I hope you’ll listen (though the sound quality ain’t great).

There is sadly no guarantee with regards the vaccinations or the boosters Fandango. All it does is lighten your symptoms. edward next door – 85 years of age, didn’t even know he had it, he is double vakked, boosted and still got it – BUT because of the meds he survived whereas many do not – but there is no guarantee.
Take care my friend.
