We’re almost halfway through the last month of 2021 and it’s time for this week’s Share Your World questions from Melanie.
What is your opinion of the state of health care in your country? Adequate or inadequate? What could be done to improve it?
America is on its deathbed. Nearly half of Americans (Republicans) have embraced The Big Lie and wacky conspiracy theories. They are gun crazy, racist, misogynistic, right-wing loonies who are unraveling the very fabric of our nation. What can be done about it? Sane, rational, and reasonable Americans need to vote in the 2022 midterm elections in a big way. Because if a bunch of Trumpian sycophants get elected to Congress and the Republicans take control of both houses, that will be the final nail in America’s coffin.
What are two words that describe you best?
Still alive.

Do you have a morning routine? If so, what it’s like?
- Get up
- Pee
- Brush my teeth
- Fix a bowl of cold cereal
- Read the local newspaper
- Have a cup of coffee
- Take a shower
- Check my overnight stats and go through the Reader on WordPress
What’s something that really makes your blood race?
I’m assuming that Melanie’s “blood race” term means gets me excited versus “blood boil” (gets me angry). If that assumption is correct, I was really excited this morning about taking our new electric bikes out and riding them for the first time. Unfortunately, it’s pouring rain and it’s supposed to rain most of the week, so our inaugural ride will have to be postponed. But the good news is that we desperately need this rain.
Do you enjoy singing festive songs during *insert festive celebration that you observe to replace “Christmas” if it’s not relevant to you * Christmas carols or songs?
No.

State of the nation? Well summarised. Now it needs your people to act……
Still alive? You still have a sense of humour. Good to hear….
Morning routine step 1 get up…Well done Fan…
I’m sorry you’ve had to cancel your inaugural bike ride. Maybe good idea. Rain and electricity not a good mix…..

I used to start my day with the WAPO and NYT, but recently I default more to WordPress. The news is likely to start my day with tears. After I have coffee and work on my post for a while I venture into the world of insane behavior, I no longer refer to republicans as merely irrational, and insane is too kind a word – rabid seems to be more applicable.

Government attorneys expressed concerns that the Medicare direct contracting model — begun by Trump, and continued under Biden — was geared to benefit specific companies.

Thanks, Fandango, for Sharing Your World! Very well put about the health care situation here. I fear you’re right too. We’ve proven (generally) to be too stupid to get out of our own way when it comes to important shtuff.. I loved the little guy dancing up there, now I can picture you doing just that! And grinning the whole time as well!! You were spot on on the blood race question. I really did mean it as a positive, not negative question, however I failed to specify, so I’ve gotten all sorts of answers, and some answered with both situations. I wasn’t surprised at the Christmas music though. Somehow I thought you’d say that… 😉 No worries! Have a splendid week!

Hi Melanie. I actually misread your first question and answer it without being specific to health care, so a I wrote a whole new post today with my answer to the question you actually asked:

Did we finally get a glimpse of more than your eyes? You have a bow tie on in your profile … is it a coincidence that the dancing man is wearing a bow tie also? 🤔

{Aspiration is for the purpose of observing whether or not the needle has hit a vein of a person (which, hitting of a vein, would be and is unsafe). That is rather than landing within muscle as is proper in the particular administration process with each individual at time of receiving vaccination. If blood comes into the needle when the aspiration is applied by the technician or doctor or nurse directly administering the shot, the shot is then not to be injected in that spot if at all; blood indicates that a vein has been breached. Usually, a vein isn’t breached. Therefore, the injection is (usually) to proceed and does proceed. Nevertheless, the wording “aspiration before injection” is shorthand, so to speak, and the aspiration isn’t a thing unto itself for no other reason. Rather, it is involved in a decision point. Most doctors used to know this, but health officials have forgotten how to read medical literature? And most doctors, now, are followers rather than thinkers? And many to most covid shots aren’t being done by doctors or nurses anyway. Thus, shots are being injected into veins in careless countries and situations.}

Officially from Denmark: Immunisation is done by intramuscular injection into the deltoid muscle. In case of contraindications to vaccination in the deltoid muscle, the vaccine may be administered to the central section of the lateral great muscle (the thigh muscle). Based on a precautionary principle, we recommend aspiration before injection.
