For her weekly Blogging Insights prompts, Dr. Tanya provides us with a quote about blogging or writing and asks us to express our opinion about said quote.
This week’s quote is from Reba McEntire, an American country music singer.
“To thrive in life you need three bones. A wishbone, a backbone, and a funny bone.”
To me, this quote is suggesting that a successful life (however you might define “successful”) requires a bit of luck (a wishbone), strength and determination (a backbone), and a good sense of humor (a funny bone).
I believe that all of these metaphorical “bones” can be of value in almost all aspects of one’s life. That said, I think having a backbone and a funny bone are the two most important because, if you possess and leverage both of those, you’re more likely than not to get the bigger half of the wishbone (i.e., to make your own luck).
Well said Fandango. I also think that.

Just.a sense of humor might be enough. It might not make you successful, but it will keep you from losing hope.

I like to think I have a sense of humor, but despite that, I’ve pretty much lost hope for our country.

I agree completely. Make your own luck, it’s way safer

All three “bones” are essential . I really like your interpretation.
