Weekend Writing Prompt — Do I Look Familiar to You?

You look familiar.
I’ve seen you before.
You pass me on the street.
You have been hectoring me,
Whenever you see me.
You look at me with disdain.
You feel the need to degrade me.
You just want to rain on my parade.
I’m not prodigious like you.
I’m just taciturn in your eyes,
Someone who is unworthy.
But I do have worth.
You just need to open your eyes
And learn to see
The extraordinary in the ordinary.

(Exactly 79 words)

Written for Sammi Cox’s Weekend Writing Prompt, where the word is “familiar.”

    Well done…..

But while we gaily write poetry about these things will we really we open our eyes and learn to see? And act?

You could call me cynical but…….

I feel sometimes that poets (including myself) are not living in the real world…hmm

This is so true Fandango and sadly a common sight on all city and town streets these days. Sadly we are all guilty of writing about it as Don Mathews says but not acting on it.

Thanks. It’s unfortunate that these homeless are often invisible and ignored by most people.
