MLMM Photo Challenge — Location, Location, Location

Harold was pissed. “Are you kidding me?” he said. “Why would you show me this house? It’s a disaster. Grass is growing on the floor in the bedroom, for crissakes.”

“You need to look beneath the surface,” Beth, his real estate agent, said. “This house has so much potential.”

“I’d need to hire a landscaper to get beneath the surface,” Harold said. “Grass and plants are covering the floors and even the mattress in the main bedroom has some sort of mossy ground cover growing on it.”

“Harold,” Beth said, “you’re a creative guy. Use your imagination. Look at the size of the rooms and think about what this place could be once you put your stamp on it. And you did say you’d be willing to do some renovations to get into this neighborhood at a price you can afford. As I’ve told you, the three most important things to consider in real estate are….”

Harold interrupted Beth. “I know. Location, location, and location.”

“Exactly,” Beth said, “and this is a highly desirable, premium location.”

“Yes, but making this place livable is not a matter of cosmetic changes,” Harold said. “This is not just a fixer-upper, Beth. It’s more of a teardown and then using the land to build a new house from the ground up.”

“Now you’re talking, Harold” Beth said. “Then you can create your dream home exactly the way you want it.”

“You need to show me some other properties, Beth,” Harold said. “Preferably something turnkey. Or at least one with the lawn on the outside of the house rather than on the inside.”

Love this! “I’d need to hire a landscaper to get beneath the surface,” 😄

One of my middle son’s (the third of five) favorite books when he was little was one where a room turned into a wild and beautiful place. He now lives in New Zealand.

Need a lawnmower inside, huh? Not the kind of house I would want either.

Sounds like a tear-down to me, too. Not everyone is up for a massive construction project.
