Anomaly

Yesterday my blog received 971 views. Considering that my blog had averaged 360 views a day for the first seven days this month, getting 971 in one day was quite an anomaly.

I suppose every blogger has had this happen once in a while. It happened to me once before. Back in May of 2019, my blog got 1,556 views in one day. And what stood out on that day was that more than 60% — 952 — were from Germany.

But yesterday, more than two-thirds of my views were from the U.S., which is higher than my typical day, where U.S. views run between 30 to 40 percent of my total views. And as to likes and comments, they were pretty much in line with the number of likes and comments I get on a typical day, so way fewer, given the number of views I got, than one would expect.

I have no idea what caused my blog’s views to spike yesterday. Things are back to “normal” today, as by 12:30 pm, I’ve gotten 232 views, 110 of which have been from the U.S.

Have any of you had any unusual or unexplainable spikes in your views lately?

Truthful Tuesday — One or the Other

Frank, aka PCGuy, has published another one of his Truthful Tuesday posts. This week Frank wants us to choose our “truth” in his either/or items.

1. Do Housework or Yardwork?

I am known for killing most plants I touch, so I’m going with housework.

2. Clean the Kitchen or the Bathroom?

I hate cleaning bathrooms, so for me, it’s the kitchen.

3. Do Laundry or Dishes?

The laundry, of course. All you have to do is throw stuff in the washer, wait for the buzzer to go off, then throw it in the dryer, wait for the buzzer to go off and you’re done. Easy peasy.

4. Mow or Edge the lawn?

Mow, mow, mow the lawn.

5. Get up early or Stay up late?

I have no choice. I can no longer stay up late and I can no longer sleep late, so by default, it’s early to bed, early to rise.

6. Cook or Eat Out?

In the Before Days, my answer would have been to eat out. Not anymore.

7. Go to a restaurant or Order take-out/delivery?

In the Before Days, my answer would have been to go to a restaurant. Not anymore.

8. Vacuum or Dust?

Vacuum.

9. Have a Large Party or a Small Gatherings?

I prefer small gatherings.

10. Read Fiction or Non-fiction?

I can go either way, but I prefer reading engrossing fiction.

Fandango’s Story Starter #19

It’s time for my weekly Story Starter prompt. Here’s how it works. Every Tuesday morning (my time), I’m going to give you an incomplete “teaser” sentence and your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to build a story (prose or poetry) around that partial sentence. It doesn’t have to be the first sentence in your story, and you don’t even have to use it in your post at all if you don’t want to. The purpose of the teaser is simply to spark your imagination and to get your storytelling juices flowing.

This week’s Story Starter teaser is:

There was something about a music box that always made me…

If you care to write and post a story built on this teaser, be sure to link back to this post and to tag your post with #FSS. I would also encourage you to read and enjoy what your fellow bloggers do with this teaser.

And most of all, have fun.

FOWC with Fandango — Shovel

FOWC

Welcome to November 9, 2021 and to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (U.S.).

Today’s word is “shovel.”

Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.

Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Please check to confirm that your pingback is there. If not, please manually add your link in the comments.

And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. You will marvel at their creativity.
