What was the very first popular song you ever remember taking a liking to? I’m not talking about children’s songs or old traditional songs, but the kind of songs you’d hear on the radio.
“Round and Round” by Perry Como. These days I sing it to my grandson all the time.
Are you one of those people who get queasy at sight of blood, or could you watch an open heart surgery?
Yes, the sight of blood, other than my own, tends to make me feel queasy. And yet, I was an army medic back in the day.
Who or what do you feel is lurking right behind you, just waiting to ambush you and make your life a living hell?
My cat.
What is the gaudiest thing you have ever worn?
When I was in the army reserves and had to go to my duty assignment one weekend a month and for two weeks each summer for six years, I had really long hair (yes, I was a hippie, but this was back in the late 60s and early 70s). My girlfriend would put bobby pins in my long hair and then put a short hair wig on my head, as the army didn’t exactly want long-haired hippies to show up for duty. Did I fool anyone? Probably not. Was it gaudy? Well, I’d say less gaudy than ridiculous looking.
Fess up! What was something you did as a child that got you into BIG trouble?
I got caught shoplifting a live chameleon from the pet department in a Woolworth’s store.
What are you looking forward to as the festive season approaches?
I’m looking forward for the “festive season” to be over.

Thank you Fandango for Sharing Your World! I’m surprised your chameleon buddy didn’t try to ‘blend in’ better! 😄 Unless he liked it in his pet shop world? You’ve mentioned your ultra long hair before. What I want to know is how did you stand wearing a wig and doing all the physical stuff I’m told goes along with being a soldier, even part time! I’d have been ripping the thing from my head and letting the chips fall. It was clever of you two to come up with that solution though! I did put in that I hadn’t said (or written to be more precise) the dreaded “C” word (no season before its time!), but I get your point of view on that one. Of course you have cause to be apprehensive, but you also get a sort of extra ‘gift’ in that you can spend part of it with small children. That will make it all worth it, grandpa! 😉 Have a superb week!

I just thought it would be neat to have a chameleon. What did I know? I was in middle school.

I can sing “Round and Round” too. Until I read this, I’d completely forgotten it! Actually, I sort of collect songs about going round and round. There are at least a dozen I can think of, though I often forget the actual names of the song — or who sang them.

This may be the best Share Your World answer I’ve ever seen! And I’m glad it was on one of my questions! I would have never guessed such exotic pets could be found at the five and dime back in its heyday…

Woolworths… brings back memories of cherry soda’s in the cafeteria there – best I ever had! I seem to recall they also carried birds you could buy for pets and they were always screeching!
