Why do you always feel that you need to monopolize everyone’s time when we’re together? I can’t get a word in edgewise. It makes me feel like I’m some nearly invisible, insubstantial wraith who is just tagging along with you, instead of as your partner. Have you no moral compass?
I know I can’t impel you to share the spotlight with me, but maybe you could at least give me a handout, a scrap. What a present it would to be to me for your to recognize that I am present, standing right by your side, instead of ignoring me.
Is that too much to ask?
Written for these daily prompts: Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (monopolize), Word of the Day Challenge (wraith), Ragtag Daily Prompt (compass), Your Daily Word Prompt (impel), The Daily Spur (hand), and My Vivid Blog (homonym — note, I didn’t use the word “homonym,” but I used the word “present” in the last sentence with two different meanings).
What an interesting composition with the prompts you had.

Well done. I can relate to this story too. It’s when someone says, why are you so quiet? Erm, I just can’t get a word in 🙊🤣

Thankfully I am not in that situation any longer.

For some people it is! Some people love the spotlight, I can think of a few who absolutely monopolise no matter where they are!
