JDB Five Word Challenge — Street Fright

It was getting late, night was falling, and I found myself all alone in a strange neighborhood. Nothing looked familiar. Then someone approached me from one of the side streets. He was a large, menacing looking fellow. As he got closer and closer to me, my heart began to pound in my chest. When he stopped a few feet in front me, I was having trouble taking a breath. I was about to turn and run for my life when he said, “Hey, buddy, you look a little lost. Can I help you out?”

This was written for Judy Dykstra-Brown’s new prompt, where she challenges us to write a poem or prose piece making use of these words: approach, looking, street, breath, strange. Photo credit: Madison Bean @ Pinterest.
