“Listen, it was very nice of you to invite me to this fancy restaurant and to have ordered this lovely meal for me. I probably should have mentioned this when you asked me to join you here for dinner, so it’s entirely my fault, but I’m a vegan and I also have celiac disease so I must avoid gluten at all costs,” she said. “And I don’t drink red wine. It gives me acid reflux.”

He glared at her. “Yeah, you should have told me all that when I asked you to meet me for dinner at Ruth’s Chris Steak House,” he said.
