Every Monday, Paula Light, with her The Monday Peeve prompt, gives us an opportunity to vent or rant about something that pisses us off.
What pisses me off today is that last night I had just turned off the light on my bedroom nightstand and my mind was wandering, as it is wont to do right before I fall asleep. For some reason, I remembered that Paula would be posting her Monday Peeve post the next morning and, out of the blue, a great idea for my Monday peeve occurred to me. I thought I’d better jot it down to make sure I remembered it when I woke up.
But I’d already shut off my iPhone, where I would have tapped out what my peeve would be in my Notes app. And I didn’t want to turn my phone back on and disturb my wife. So I went over my peeve in my mind and figured I’d surely remember it when I woke up.
Of course, when I woke up this morning and saw Paula’s Monday Peeve prompt in my Reader, I remembered that I had come up with a really good peeve last night. Unfortunately, I couldn’t remember what it was.
I figured that, as the day progressed, it would eventually come back to me. But I’m still drawing a blank. And it was such a great idea for my Monday Peeve, too!
And that’s what’s pissing me off today.
I can’t count the number of times I haven’t written it down — computer off, phone off, and I’m tired. I’m sure I’ll remember it.
I NEVER remember it.

Yep! If I don’t write it down it’s like it never entered my consciousness even minutes later. Ah, getting old!

Memory isn’t one of my strong points either. I have to write things down other wise I will forget it.

You need to get an Alexa and tell her to make an appointment for you and tell her your idea, which you could do while you are in bed.

My wife made me unplug Alexa. She was convinced Alexa was recording our conversations as posting them on the “dark web.” 😂

I actually had a minor peeve a couple days ago, but after I got all annoyed at my ballot… I couldn’t remember it either! So I used the recall 😂

This reminds me of yeas ago before cell phones. One night I had a long poem in mind and grabbed a pen and paper by my bed stand. I kept the lamp off. I scribbled and scribbled, finally finished to read in the morning to edit. When I woke up saw that after the first page the pen ran out of ink so just impressions of words on paper. I tried the graphite pencil to smooth over to read with no luck. Of course I couldn’t remember it either🙄😵💫

That’s funny, although I guess you weren’t amused at the time. 😏

Always have pen and paper beside the bed, even a single word might prompt recall

I used to do that before iPhones, and I will often write notes to myself on my iPhone about things I want to remember, but once I turn it off at night, I’m too lazy or too tired, I guess, to turn it back on. It’s a real life illustration of that old saying, “you snooze, you lose.”

You make me feel so much better! I have this problem on a nightly basis. I compose poems in my head before I go to sleep and I never write them down. I wake up in the morning and poof they are gone! 😕

Well, I’m glad I’m not the only one. 😉

Sometimes I wish my brain had an app to download ideas. Then I could tug on one ear and total recall would bring up my thoughts.

Wouldn’t that be nice?

I have moments where a brilliant idea would strike me and I wouldn’t have the time to note it down and I’ll forget about it afterwards

Yeah, I can relate.

Wait until you’re as old as me, I can forget, in the time it takes to pick up a pen!

Awww! I hate that when I draw a blank and what I was thinking just won’t come to me! 😀

I have had times I have jotted down notes in the dark before – always have paper near me to write on!
