Blogging Insights — Reading Material

For this week’s Blogging Insights post, Dr. Tanya is back with another question about what inspires us. She wants to know…

Does what you read influence or inspire what you write?

The first thing I need to do to answer this question is to list what I read.

  • The daily San Francisco Chronicle newspaper
  • The Week, a weekly news digest magazine
  • The newsfeed on my iPhone
  • Emails and texts on my iPhone
  • Apple News and Google News on my iPhone
  • Other bloggers’ posts that show up in my WordPress Reader
  • An occasional novel

Is what I write influenced or inspired by any of these reading sources? Yes, all of them, and very much so. Especially when my posts cover current events, politics, and what’s going on in the world around us. How could it not be?

Inspiration is all around us: what we see, hear, read, experience, and feel.

Thanks for that very precise answer.
This series is aimed at all kinds of bloggers, veteran authors as well as those who have just begun to post.
The experience of other bloggers acts like “on the job training ” for new bloggers as well as fresh inspiration for older ones.

At some point in time I am influenced by a little bit of everything including what I read.
