Frank (aka PCGuy) and Di (aka Pensitivity101) alternate as hosts for Fibbing Friday, a silly little exercise where we are to write a post with our answers to the ten questions below. But as the title suggests, truth is not an option. The idea is to fib a little, a lot, tell whoppers, be inventive, silly, or even outrageous, in our responses. Today is Di’s turn to host and she is presenting us the first parts of ten old sayings and asking us to finish them off.

1. A stitch in time saves…

an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction later.

2. Too many cooks…

lost their jobs when their restaurants closed due to the pandemic.

3. Many hands make…

many mistakes.

4. A bird in the hand…

will likely poop in the hand.

5. Actions speak louder…

when performed in an echo chamber.

6. All that glitters…

ends up as litter.

7. People in glass houses…

should remember to draw the curtains at night.

8. Fools rush in ……

to fill a void.

9. Don’t count your chickens …

except when you’re taking inventory.

10. Give them an inch…

instead of 2.54 centimeters if you’re in the U.S.

    It takes a lot of energy to fly, so birds are always eating and this results in them making a lot of poop.

    You actually knew the metric measurement for an inch. I’m in awe. I NEVER could grasp that stuff!! Great answers to all those silly phrases (proverbs, adages, what have you). .

    Number 1 (and all of it) is quite clever.

    2) Went to a newish restaurant a few days ago. There’s a restaurant I used to go to, somewhat frequently, because of someone I knew who went there even more frequently. It closed down just immediately before the pandemic (or at the very beginning but for other reasons). A couple of the guys who used to work at that other place started working at this new (more posh) place during the pandemic (one as a cook or chef and one as a bartender). Meanwhile, one of the main bartenders at the other place has gone into roofing.

    I was thinking about this glittering idea, last night. Looking at a local estate sales app, I wondered if some things that looked pretty were good quality or collector items or what have you. One place was selling (used) furniture at roughly 10,000 and 4,000 for a piece and had original oil paintings on canvas, as well as an historical antique etching on marble that interested me. Other places had mostly junk, but a few nice things. What if a place like that had one amazing item of gold (but you couldn’t tell if it was made of something else)? I’m sure some things get treated as littler. And, of course, some things are litter. (Honestly, even something made of gold is litter.) And the home with a bench for the foot of the bed at $2000 could have a few trinkets that weren’t worthwhile mixed in. All this “stuff” in these homes. I, too, have some do-dads of worth and some that could well go into the trash; how would my sons know which are which? (Some are obvious.)
