Welcome once again to Fandango’s Provocative Question. Each week I will pose what I think is a provocative question for your consideration.
By provocative, I don’t mean a question that will cause annoyance or anger. Nor do I mean a question intended to arouse sexual desire or interest.
What I do mean is a question that is likely to get you to think, to be creative, and to provoke a response. Hopefully a positive response.
This week’s provocative question is about first impressions. There’s an old saying that says you never get a second chance to make a first impression. Yet, it’s tough to know how you actually come across to new people.
So, the question is this:
What impression do you think you give when you first meet someone?
If you choose to participate, write a post with your response to the question. Once you are done, tag your post with #FPQ and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Or you can simply include a link to your post in the comments. But remember to check to confirm that your pingback or your link shows up in the comments.

Here’s my rambling contribution: https://sparksfromacombustiblemind.com/2021/05/12/fandangos-provocative-question-117/ Sorry for the length, it got away from me. I do hope YOU answer this too, I’d be fascinated to read what you think about it!

I usually don’t answer my own provocative questions, but I MAY make an exception for you, Melanie.

That one’s a little too much for me!

Too provocative or too personal? 😉

First thing I noticed here was a left handed handshake (or reversed image).
They say you never get a second chance to make a first impression. I insulted Hubby’s car the first time we met, but he didn’t hold it against me!
You either like me or you don’t. Just the way it is. 🙂

David always says that the first time he met me and I smiled at him he knew I was the one! I did have to go back and look at that handshake! I just don’t have patience for people who don’t care to be around me…just keep walking is what I think to say!

Similar with Hubs and me, except I insulted his car!

Yikes, you’re right. I didn’t notice left handed handshake. When I was younger I used to have an expression: “Accept me as I am or reject me.”

BTW, I just edited the post and flipped the photo to show a right-hand handshake.

Interesting question except I haven’t met anyone new (other than grocery store queues) in a really long time. We aren’t particularly sociable — and obvious less so since COVID. This would have been more entertaining while I was working and getting out into the world more. Still, made a me think back to when I really did care what other people thought of me. Now, I really don’t give a rat’s ass. That’s the real joy of getting older!

Yes, as a fellow septuagenarian, I agree that the kind of first impression I make on others doesn’t hold much importance to me these days.
