Who Won the Week? 05/02/2021

FWWTWThe idea behind Who Won the Week is to give you the opportunity to select who (or what) you think “won” this past week. Your selection can be anyone or anything — politicians, celebrities, athletes, authors, bloggers, your friends or family members, books, movies, TV shows, businesses, organizations, whatever.

I will be posting this prompt on Sunday mornings (my time). If you want to participate, write your own post designating who you think won the week and why you think they deserve your nod. Then link back to this post and tag you post with FWWTW.

This week’s Who Won the Week winners are Kamala Harris and Nancy Pelosi. On Wednesday night, President Joe Biden delivered his first prime-time speech to a joint session of Congress. And behind him he was flanked by Vice President Kamala Harris and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, two California Democrats. The two women made history that night as the first women — one of them Black and Indian American — to share the stage in Congress during a presidential address.

Biden noted the historic event at the very opening of his address. After taking the podium, Biden greeted the two women standing behind him with a “Madam Speaker” and “Madam Vice President.”

He then declared, “No president has ever said those words — and it’s about time.”

Maybe it won’t be too much longer before the individual giving a prime time presidential address to a joint session of Congress will be introduced as “Madam President.”

What about you? Who (or what) do you think won the week?

Biden has been taking a lot of flack for wearing his mask at the event and some people will never understand that the pandemic is far from being over, although we have made a lot of progress with him as President.

If you listen to Fox News, and Tucker Carlton in particular, people who wear masks should be reported to the authorities and taken to jail.

I refuse to listen to Fox News, as I think it is idiotic and very unpatriotic, although I did hear on CNN this morning that they will be starting up their own late night show to counter all the jokes that were made about Trump.

Conservatives are always upping the “game” on extreme hate and “cancelation” — and turning around and pretending it is liberals who do it.

It is frustrating that this all happens so slowly, I find. You know, when to many of us, this is just obvious.

Most of us here on the left agree; not so much those on the right.

I agree that it’s the trio: the President, Vice President, and Speaker. Wonderful moment!!

Kamala’s got some big assignments now. It’s great that she’s got an adoring, supportive spouse to shore her up.

On a more personal level I got my second covid vaccine shot on the 30th … so both me and my boyfriend are on the way to being “free and clear” I can’t wait until the vaccine is fully active on the 15th I can see some of my vaccinated friends once again. So in my little corner of the world I won the week.
