FOWC with Fandango — Affordable

FOWCWelcome to March 18, 2021 and to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). It’s designed to fill the void after WordPress bailed on its daily one-word prompt.

I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (US).

Today’s word is “affordable.”

Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.

Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Please check to confirm that your pingback is there. If not, please manually add your link in the comments.

And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. You will marvel at their creativity.

    I get Missouri news because I was born in (and grew up in) Saint Louis and have, in earlier times of my life, lived in two other areas (Columbia and, sort of, Kansas City) of Missouri [besides California].

    Individuals (wherever) didn’t know that their cut-rate “deals” weren’t going to be affordable. As for the sub-area within Kansas City Missouri, KCI, I wonder when that provider was selected.

    March 22, 2021 … check out what happened to Kansas City International Airport.

    Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas said Monday that KCI’s gas bill for February increased to $2.4 million. The bill from the airport’s Texas-based gas provider was an increase of more than $2.32 million than it regularly pays on average.

    ….

    Lucas said KCI gets its gas from Symmetry Energy Solutions, which is headquartered in Houston, {right-wing} Texas. According to the company’s website, Symmetry is a “leading energy supplier providing over 1 trillion cubic feet of natural gas to more than 100,000 residential and commercial customers in over 30 states.”

    …..

    Texas energy companies have come under fire recently for passing along massive bills to customers after last month’s winter storm.

    Texas’ attorney general is suing electricity provider Griddy for rate increases, including charging some residential customers nearly $10,000.

    The lawsuit comes days after Texas’ power grid manager effectively shut down Griddy by revoking its access to the state’s electricity market.

    Griddy charges $10 a month to give people a way to pay wholesale prices for electricity instead of a fixed rate.

      There’s a video included above that article (at the link); I’m guessing from some number of weeks or a month earlier — but not an earlier year or season — earlier than now. It includes the governor of Texas saying he’s going to require the providers to winterize. {After such recommendations were given ten years ago already.}
