Fandango’s Provocative Question #113

FPQWelcome once again to Fandango’s Provocative Question. Each week I will pose what I think is a provocative question for your consideration.

By provocative, I don’t mean a question that will cause annoyance or anger. Nor do I mean a question intended to arouse sexual desire or interest.

What I do mean is a question that is likely to get you to think, to be creative, and to provoke a response. Hopefully a positive response.

This week’s provocative question is simple.

Have you gotten vaccinated for COVID-19 yet? If not, are you planning to? If you have, or are planning to, how do you think your life will change afterwards? If you’re not planning to get vaccinated, why not?

If you choose to participate, write a post with your response to the question. Once you are done, tag your post with #FPQ and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Or you can simply include a link to your post in the comments. But remember to check to confirm that your pingback or your link shows up in the comments.

Yes, and I am glad of it, plus I cannot wait for the second shot, even if we have to wait 12 weeks after the first. It’s not a cure, but it offers some protection especially from visitors who come to our town and don’t give a toss about residents. Hubby had his first shot a fortnight before me. Apart from a headache and feeling more tired than usual for 24 hours, we had no side effects.

I’ve had the two shots and first responders in the fam and medical people have had theirs.  I did not have any effects from either but some family did.  Nothing has changed after being vaccinated really,  except one quick trip to buy a tv to replace the one that blew out during the riots in 1-6-21.  Even the tv couldn’t stand it!   Otherwise still online shopping for everything.  I was told to check my bank acct to see if the new stimulus ck arrived but can’t get into it online for some reason—a problem that occurs frequently here.  Basically for me doing everything online is a pita! But people in our area are stubborn about getting the shots and wearing masks…😠

I did not get the jab, nor do I intend to get it!
Nor is the mask a part of my life.

I do believe the virus is real but exaggerated.

I know many tested positive, including family members who live in my home; I did not get the virus from them. Perhaps I will someday. Never say never. It is said; a much worse variant is coming; who knows!

I am already 80, and the little time I have left, I refuse to live it in fear.

I do take my daily Vitamine D, which is the best/effective deterrent against the virus. As well as my other supplements as cod liver oil for my arthritis.

Research shows the jab will have long-term serious side effects, I think it might and I doubt those promoting it are not taking it, perhaps instead for the sake of a picture, a vitamin B, jab.

Thanks Fandango, I wish no harm to those who feel otherwise, we are living in strange times, that we can all agree!

I’m not eligible, right now. I did express interest to my county.

I look forward to attending concerts, especially outdoor — and outdoor food and art and other festivals. I also like touring refurbished old homes. I already have plans to attend at least one baseball (MLB) game, this summer. I don’t intend to return to movie theatres (although I admit I’m not fully ruling it out). The person I live with (my ex husband) has gotten both of his doses; the second one did affect him more than the first, but he’s fine. He’s waiting two weeks until he will be willing to order Chinese food via delivery. I am looking forward to that. He recently got into a Facebook argument with a Trump-cult-adhering bartender/waiter he used to be friendly* with at a favorite German-style pub/restaurant (which was actually already planning on going out of business immediately before the pandemic hit); he got himself unfriended. I had to explain to him that we won’t want to go anywhere that guy works after this… he wasn’t catching on. It’s a “known” thing that servers might spit in your drink. (And I suspect this father of my children is “on the spectrum” in that he has a smiling but brash personality and doesn’t notice social cues, in person, about going too far or expecting too much.) I’m wanting to set up my yearly eye exam, which I skipped last year. But, honestly, I think I’ll do that even if I don’t get vaccinated (unless they won’t let me). They were very proactive with taking the temperature of anyone who entered their office way back in February last year. I think I’m going to be a chooser rather than a beggar, I want the J&J version. The most important change will be the ability to get together with all of my sons, even indoors, and to do things like play cards.

    * This right-winger didn’t talk about his views a lot at the bar. But it was known that he was a righty. Strangely, or not, he got himself into trouble with the law more than once. He was put in jail for driving under the influence, and the only person he could think of to call and to bail him out one time was this dude he has now unfriended.

It has just now dawned on me to clarify something in my comment above:

He’s waiting two weeks [after his second shot] until he will be willing to order Chinese food via delivery. I am looking forward to that.

The reference to Chinese food is not particular in the sense of his having avoided Chinese food. What he, himself, is really looking forward to is McDonald’s food. He hasn’t been getting any carry out or delivery or fast food of any kind for the past year.

I, myself, have gotten carry out as well as fast food (although not a chain type) during this time. This was when I was in St. Louis to help my cousin. I went out for curbside pickup of a local fried chicken and I went in to pick up the best Chinese food in the Midwest.

Living in Canada we are way behind in vaccinating people but I do intend to get one when it is my turn. I think it will take me a while to get used to socializing in person again. I look forward to getting a mani/pedi. While I can have one now wearing a mask to do so wouldn’t be relaxing for me.

I don’t know about you, but they took away the classic editor last night, so you are the second post I’ve had no choice but to write it in block format. I’m glad I tried it out ahead of time or it would have been even worse.

Anyway, Garry’s vaccinated, I’ll be done in two weeks and Owen comes up in early April. Not much is going to change. We aren’t party goers and we don’t have the money for big vacations, but at least we can stop wondering if we are about to die. That’s something, right?

Wait! They took away the classic editor even in the wp-admin site?

They have on MY site. They never do them all at the same time, so it’s on its way if you don’t have it yet. The dropdown menu is GONE. It’s all block and the Post/All Post page looks entirely different. Also, the comment page is completely changed, too. There does not seem to be any way to get it back, either — and the pingbacks aren’t working. Again.

Just got my second dose. I hope that I will be able to be “freer” than I have been.

Trying to get one, but the demand far out weighs the supply here. I know I am in the next age group the clinic will be doing, but I don’t know how long before they start it. I keep trying to get into one of the pharmacies, but no luck yet, always fully booked. I will feel a little safer going to the store after the vaccine, but I will not let my guard down just yet.
