Between her demanding job, her overbearing husband, and her needy children, Veronica had lost herself. Maybe her husband was right when he said her midnight walks along the shoreline were self-indulgent. But she also knew that without her “me time,” her sanity would be at risk.
She was tired of being defined by her labels: employee, wife, mother. She was more than that, and she needed this solitary, peaceful, quiet, alone time each night in order to maintain her bearings, to hang on to her individuality. She needed to remind herself that she was still a vibrant, independent woman.

How true. We need time to ourselves to remind us that we ARE still individuals.

It’s so easy to lose track of ourselves.

She was tired of being defined by her labels: employee, wife, mother. She was more than that…. she was still a vibrant, independent woman.
This was intriguing to me. Back in the seventies, there was a big talking point about being “someone’s wife, someone’s mother.” This was to promote the idea of women being more meaningful if they work outside the home for money. Back then, I was saying that when you have a job, you are “someone’s” employee. It was tough for some people to grasp.

‘Me time” is an important moment of peace we all need. Lovely words of wisdom

“Me time” is something a lot of people have to wait for. Single parents, for instance, can rarely indulge. Somehow, most of them muddle through until the kids are old enough to be trusted to be on their own for a time. Sometimes, the things we sign up for end up robbing us of that precious restorative time alone.

Yep, it’s true, but we somehow need to find time for our “me time,” even if it’s nightly walks on a moonlit beach.

There was a point in time when I couldn’t even go to the restroom (so we’re talking like five minutes or less) without there being a significant chance a couple of my sons would get into a fight.

Amen! There are many who don’t/won’t understand the meaning of the concept, but for those who do, it is non-negotiable. I’m glad she doesn’t cave in to the pressure.

Me time is a must. For a lot of years I didn’t have it and I wonder now how I survived. Well done Fandango!
