I Can’t Put It Off Any Longer

I’ve been putting it off for almost a month. My plan was to start preparing my taxes no later than February 15th. I installed the latest version of TurboTax on my laptop, opened up the program, and filled in all of my “demographic” information. With all good intentions, I started to complete the section where I enter all of my tax documents. Since I’m retired, I don’t receive a W2 from my employer anymore. But I do have interest payments, dividend payments, and annual Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) from my retirement savings accounts. These all come in the form of 1099 documents.

But I got distracted on that February 15th and just never got around to collecting all of those tax documents. And since I hate to waste my time completing my taxes, I decided to put that all off for another day. Well, that other day has finally arrived, about three weeks later than I had intended it to. I had hoped that by now filing my taxes would have been behind me, but it’s still hanging over my head. And I can’t put it off any longer.

So this is my way long-winded of informing you, my friends, that until my taxes are complete and ready to be transmitted electronically to the IRS and to the state of California, I won’t be posting much on WordPress. Maybe I’ll get it all done by the end of the day today. If not, surely by the end of the day tomorrow. In any event, as someone once said, “I’ll be back.”

I’ve got my 401(k) and pension plans from several employers, plus I sold and bought a house last year. So it can get complicated.

Oh right…taxes…. Gotta get to that too. I got the Turbotax CD a while back and then kind of forgot about it.

I was scheduled to get my taxes done last friday but the tax preparer was sick and had to reschedule. I don’t really expect a refund, but fear I may have to pay. Good luck with yours Fandango!
