Melanie is back with her Share Your World prompt. Today, Melanie wants to know:
Why do we dream?
It’s nature’s way of dropping acid.
Do you think a person’s name influences the person they become?
I didn’t choose my given name and I don’t know if, had I been given a different name by my parents, I’d be any different than I am right now. I kind of doubt it, although if they’d named me Sue, it might have set up a totally different chain of events in my life.
Does hardship make a person stronger? (example: What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger.)
Well, I suppose that the way we deal with whatever hardship has befallen us might transform our pain into growth. Maybe the fact that we were able to overcome our hardship helps us to realize that we can conquer our misfortune (and our demons) and move forward to a better life.
Why do we judge ourselves by our intentions, but judge others by their actions?
Because we know what our own intentions, good or bad, are, but we don’t always (or even often) know what’s driving others, so all we can do is make a determination based upon what they are doing (their actions) and not their innermost thoughts behind their actions.
Share some gratitude.
I’m grateful that the Trump nightmare is finally coming to an end and that Joe Biden will be sworn in as our President in around 48 hours. But I fear — a feeling of dread, perhaps — that something really bad might happen either before, at, or shortly after the inauguration. I don’t think the assault on the U.S. Capitol on January 6th was the end of it, and I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Thank you Fandango, for Sharing Your World. I agree with you on the gratitude answer – it’s like America is holding her collective breath. I’m tempted to shut everything down (all outside information links) and just hide until Thursday. I’m doing my own ‘security’ measures, not that I think I’ll personally be attacked or anything, but to ask for protection for our country during this time. Very thoughtful answers, and again thanks! It actually dawned on me, after a dream, that I was fortunate (comparatively) to have only paid a lawyer for work she then didn’t do. I had paid via a cashiers check, rather than a personal check or bank transfer. She apparently didn’t want to do any work for me since she couldn’t go on claiming I owed her more money (which could involve filing legal demands against my bank account if she had that information) for things she had already agreed to do for the price I paid. She later pretended she didn’t even know what I was talking about. She played so stupid (in her latter version) that I wonder if she is really not a credentialed attorney. But she was recommended (not by a friend).
(I still intend to recuperate the loss, even if it could’ve been worse. I have to see if the delay hurt me, too.)

It is weighing on the minds of a lot of people that what happen on Jan 6th may not be an isolated incident.
