One-Liner Wednesday — Impeachable Offenses

“President Trump committed impeachable offenses and I’m pleased that Democrats are moving to impeach him.”

Mitch McConnell, United States Senate Majority Leader

That’s right, Mitch McConnell (aka The Grim Reaper, aka Moscow Mitch) has finally found his balls and has publicly split with with Donald Trump after four years of having his lips firmly planted on Trump’s butt.

Well, Mitch, all I can say is way too little and way, way too late.

Written for Linda G. Hill’s One-Liner Wednesday prompt.

It’s interesting how the Republicans have stood by Trump and his misdeeds for four years, but find it easy now to call for impeachment when it was their enabling that fueled last week’s sedition. So many of them are cowards and complicit in what is happening in this country. The Republicans need a few more Mitt Romney’s in the areas of morality, ethics and opening their mouths long before a division of hate is created in this country. Perhaps Mitt isn’t the best example, but it’s the point that you don’t wait until the walls collapse to say “Gee, we should have reinforced and protected them better.” Our country needs a huge change in mindset, in how we treat our own citizens and in how we create a better way of life for the poor and middle class, minorities, the elderly and others who face financial stress and general oppression of their rights as U.S. citizens.

Yes, the Republicans are like rats jumping off of a sinking ship. Their behavior is shameful.

Everytime I see his photo it sickens me, he and Trump both. He’s as guilty as T.

I’m with you on that. I get that there are a bunch of republicans finally making the smart move but it took so long…Why? Just so they don’t go down as fast as Trump is? In my eyes they still kiss his butt!

Yes. And yet 197 Republicans in the House voted against the impeachment resolution. Only 10 Republicans supported it. 😡

This time around? I thought most of them were supporting it? I really have no desire to even watch the news.

McConnell rode the Trump train and now with the attempted coup and Trump’s presidency literally ending he probably doesn’t see the benefit in defending him at this point. If only McConnell could be kicked to curb as well.

Well, at least he’s no longer going to be the Senate Majority Leader anymore.
