Too Little, Too Late

After what can only be described as an insurrection at the U.S. Capitol building yesterday — one that was instigated by none other than the sitting President of the United States — in the wee hours of the morning, a joint session of Congress reconvened and confirmed that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were elected President and Vice President by the American people and the Electoral College.

As a result, Donald Trump issued this message:

“Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20. I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted. While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it’s only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again.”

First, his issuing of this statement is too little, too late. The damage to America at home and around the world has been done.

Second, this delusional man still got it wrong. Who cares whether or not he agrees or disagrees with the outcome of the election? And “the facts” will not bear him out. The outcome is the outcome, whether he agrees of not.

Third, his was not “the greatest first term in presidential history.” The facts will bear out that his was the worst term in presidential history.

And fourth, what does he mean by “…it’s only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again”? Is he going to continue to lie about having won the election in a landslide? Is he going to continue to sow discontent and divisiveness? Will he continue to instigate and encourage mob violence?

It’s time to invoke the 25th Amendment the United States Constitution, which says that if the President becomes unable to do his job, the Vice President becomes the President. This can happen…if the President is just sick or disabled.

Donald Trump is sick and is disabled (delusional). He needs to be removed from office TODAY!

I read a story I can’t verify about Biden when he was VP. The military officer with the “nuclear football” (look it up) was in the car behind him and Biden thought it was funny to tell his driver to try to “lose” the car behind him, the one with the “football”. Biden deliberately violated national security because he thought it was a joke. Let that sink in.

I know you don’t like Biden, James, but compared with the man who currently occupies the Oval Office, Biden is a decent, honest, empathetic man and a breath of fresh air. And if your anecdote about Biden is the worst thing you can find about him, I’m fine with that.

I really doubt that is true. Lots of misinformation out there. And if he said it, the driver knew he was trying to be funny to laugh and relieve himself of pressure. I’m not sure why the VP would have had it. It is supposed to stay with the president.

It’s probably a made up story (at least to some key degree) to equivocate the dissonance over the current Vice President (Pence) making security decisions instead of Trump taking appropriate responsibility (for which he is incapable, unsuited, and not inclined in terms of doing what is right). It is their (those who call themselves conservative but who will destroy us) absolute habit to project onto others what they themselves do.

What do you think of Mary Trump’s book? She’s a therapist and explains his actions and needs help. He’s dangerous.

I haven’t read it but I’ve read some excerpts and seen her do a number of interviews. She seems quite insightful.

I appreciate Jill Wine-Banks and enjoyed being introduced to the young delegate, Victor, co-host for her podcast (which I hadn’t known she had undertaken). That was an outstanding interview or conversation… not only about Donald and not only about Mary’s first book. I’m looking forward to her second book. Her first one is important, too. Thank you for linking to this.

I think there’s a role for Biden here. He should read out – work for word – one of *Trump’s* remarks from back in the summer, about how law and order should be upheld.

From what I read this afternoon, Trump might have a harder job disseminating his message in the future as the social media companies are considering banning him.

Twitter has already said they are going permanent. (I hope they stick to it.) Like they did with Alex Jones. Other platforms have said they have him on pause at least until after he is no longer in office or until Biden is inaugurated. I read an article in a big-name publication that wasn’t very clear about it though. Like Time or NYT or some such. I think they should’ve been more careful with their wording.

Luckily my television bit the dust during the count speeches. It is one of those purchases made in less than ten years ago that simply quit. Long and unnecessarily drawn out speeches as the winner was clear. Trump is so out of it, maybe Covid affected his brain more than we know. He seems totally deranged. Put some duct tape on that mouth, nothing else works.

Cruz objected Wednesday morning along with Rep. Paul Gosar of Arizona to Arizona’s Electoral College vote just before pro-Trump protesters began taking over the Capitol. On Wednesday night, Gosar tweeted that he’d move forward with his plan alongside Cruz and Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs.

A member of both the House and Senate, regardless of what state they represent, must object to a state’s certification to bring the matter to a vote.

“Leftist violence, or any violence, will not deter our mission for truth and transparency. The people need and deserve the truth,” Gosar said, baselessly blaming “leftists” for the violence.

The fact that many senators changed their minds could lend well to impeachment.

Hawley’s book deal was canceled by publisher Simon & Schuster on Thursday.

Hawley posted on Twitter Jan.7 that he lost a book deal […] calling the publisher’s move “Orwellian.” In that same tweet, he called the group who stormed the Capitol Building a “woke mob” and blamed the left for censoring his right to free speech.

In addition to the book deal, [he lost a] major financial backer[…] Joplin businessman David Humphreys…

What do people in Republican Senator Josh Hawley’s Missouri hometown think of him?

At 2:30 in, “When Ike Skelton said he was a hometown boy, he was.”

It just so happens that Ike Skelton is the first Democrat for whom I voted. I’m from Saint Louis, but my second child was born when I lived in the district Skelton represented. That was when issues mattered (and more [compared to now] Republicans, or people leaning right, could think).

How Josh Hawley Acted During US Capitol Siege

(This was previously labeled per Josh Hawley in the corner. Interesting. Anyway, there is more in here than that bit. For example, dark (and tax-free/non-profit) money supports right-wing extremist activity like the siege. We’ve already known we need to change laws that allow this (the dark money). And the two in conversation briefly mention (not by name), at the end, the hero {black capital officer} who led the violent insurgents away from the Senate.)

Someone I know who knows someone 🙃 who lives near Camp David says a bunch of helicopter activity has been going on there. Resignation is also on the table. Supposedly, Nixon spent time there before he resigned.

The danger now isn’t only that this deranged individual is still the sitting president but that there are so many congress-people still ‘working’ on capital hill, still paid by tax-payers, who continue to disagree with the democratic election process and side with the demagogue. What are THEY going to do next while still in office? That’s my question.

I think that Trump has to leave immediately and pay for what he has done. I don’t know about procedures, but what happened yesterday was a crime against his own Country. If they declare him delusional, it would be an extenuating circumstance when judging him. And I believe that he is not delirious. He has simply an inordinate desire for power and such great selfishness that it drives him to deny reality purposely and lie to his people. In his campaign, he already said that it was impossible to lose to Biden because he was the worst possible contender. Well, he lost. He’ll never recognize it. His ego will not allow it, not in front of his loyal followers who believe everything that comes out of his mouth.

I keep remembering one of the final scenes from The Ghostbusters when all the ghosts and demons have been released and are rampaging through NYC. Only in this case, it’s Washington DC and the Trump family are the Zuls.

Trump is sick and delusional and Biden is so obviously in cognitive decline. I’d say that those who voted Biden in are the ones who are delusional.

I’d say that if you think those who voted for Biden over a “sick and delusional” Trump are, themselves, delusional, that would make you delusional as well.
