SoCS — The Largest of the Smallest

For today’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt from Linda G. Hill, we’ve been given the words “mini/maxi.” Linda instructs us to use “mini” (the smallest of something) or “maxi” (the largest) or both in our posts.

Alrighty then. The Mini Cooper is a small car. A very small car, indeed. Which probably explains why the brand is called Mini Cooper and not just Cooper.

I drive a 2012 Mini Cooper Countryman, similar to the one pictured above. It’s the largest of the Mini Cooper models on the market. So one might consider the Countryman to be the maxi version of the Mini Cooper.

Just so you know, this very well might be the shortest post I’ve ever posted in response to one of Linda’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompts. So maybe this should be dubbed a mini response. But I personally think the mini nature of this post can have a maxi impact, even given the few words it contains.

Give me a high five if you agree!

It is not the smallest post from you, I think your one liner posts are even smaller.

Did you ever get the original minis over there? From the 60s etc? Those BMWs are enormous by comparison.

Those original Minis were pretty rare around here. But I did, personally, go through a British roadster phase. At various points in my younger days I drove a Sunbeam Alpine, a Triumph Spitfire, an Austin Healy 3000, a Jaguar XK150, and an MG Midget, which was the smallest of the lot.

There’s something to be said for short and sweet. Plus, driving a mini car is better for the environment than a big car. So high five!

The Mini Countryman is a solid car and actually scored well in crash tests.

I will keep this in mind. Do you know what they’re kind to repair? My oldest son had a VW (not a new one) for a while, expensive.

Drop that question, anyway. Everyone, other than one of my sons (who is six feet tall) and me, is especially tall (over six feet) — the other four sons. [That is additionally except for their dad and my mom (who is only five feet tall).] I’m right in between five feet and six feet. I would want all of my sons to be comfortable in my vehicle.

I’m almost 6’ tall and my son is 6’3 and he’s fine in the car.

Really? His head isn’t even brushing up near the ceiling? My tallest is 6’4” — plus, he’s long in the torso. Funny how they’re all different. None of the others have the Michael Phelps build. The rest of them would be fine if your 6’3” son is fine.

The driver’s seat is very adjustable. It can be lowered so that even someone who is 6’4” could sit in it without his head hitting the top.

Probably as much as any other imported car, but mine has been very reliable.

No, but mine is the same color. It’s called Surf Blue.
