Jeremy and Alice sat together on the lobby bench quietly admiring the holiday lights embedded in the wreath-like greenery hung around the inside of the inn’s main entrance. “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas,” Alice sang so softly that only Jeremy could hear her. She looked lovingly at Jeremy, squeezed his arm, and said, “Don’t you love this time of year with the lights, decorations, snow falling outside in the cold crisp air, and the sounds of Christmas music everywhere?”
“Bah humbug,” Jeremy said. “Thanksgiving is still two weeks away. It’s too damn early for Christmas decorations.

My oldest son and my children’s dad had a conversation about this topic, last night. My son was saying he and his wife have already started Christmas (with decorations and baking pies). He told his dad it seems a lot of people are wanting to go that way to find a happy place in the current circumstances. He didn’t know his dad had already decided not to have a tree or put up any decorations this year. Why? 2020

As a kid, I demanded we start decorating for Christmas the day after Halloween. Now, I don’t remember the last time I did anything for Christmas. I guess I got burned out.

Seems a lot of people have gotten burned out, but maybe, because 2020 has been such an awful year, people will be looking for ways to feel good about something.

I don’t have a problem with outdoor lights going up while the weather is still good, but don’t turn the lights on until after Thanksgiving…. one holiday at a time.
