He was quite charismatic
He referred to himself as “Father”
He offered all of us lost souls
The promise of utopia.
He painted an amazing picture
Of a journey to everlasting paradise
All we had to do was
Follow him
Unconditionally
He said, “Don’t be a chicken”
And so we did follow him
We drank the Kool-Aid
Quite literally
To the end of the road

Do the “youngsters” understand the reference to drinking the Kool-Aid? Too many people follow foolish leaders.

That’s a good question. I suppose I could add a footnote to the post for the “youngsters.” 😏

Just curious. My kids are in their 40’s and I doubt they know the reference.

Now I have that song stuck in my head. 🙂 You know the one.
I will follow him, follow him wherever he may go
There isn’t an ocean too deep
A mountain so high it can keep me away

I think I know who you wrote this one about and it is very good, I however will not touch anything, drink or otherwise, from him.
