Thursday Inspiration — The Ten Commandments

The object of Paula Light’s Thursday Inspiration prompt is to inspire us “to write something creative, perhaps a poem or a piece of flash fiction.” And most of the time, that works for me. Unfortunately, today is not one of those times.

Paula’s theme today is “written.” That should be easy for bloggers like me because that’s what blogging is all about — creating stories and poems and posts using the written word. But something popped into my head when I read today’s theme and there’s nothing I can do to push it out.

So I’m just going to go with it. So let it be written, so let it be done.

Seti: Would you please your Pharaoh, Moses?
Moses: Your wish is my will.
Seti: Then you build the city
Rameses: A wise decision. [To Moses] Noble task.
Seti: Rameses, do you believe this slave deliverer is a myth?
Rameses: What I believe is of no account. What matters is the slaves believe in him.
Seti: Of course, of course. Then you, too, shall go to Goshen. Learn if this deliverer be a myth or a man. If a myth, bring him to me in a bottle. If a man, bring him to me in chains.
Rameses: So let it be written, so let it be done.

A slew of thoughts went through my mind… between the promt itself, your heading, and my life/experience.

I thought of Handel’s “Messiah” for something having been written. (I love this music and the words.) Yet I quickly remembered written isn’t the terminology, there, as the words are ”The LORD has spoken it.”

    Nevertheless, Isaiah has been written.

(As has the masterpiece of music.)

    And Yeshua said,
    Young’s Literal Translation
… ‘Go — Adversary, for it hath been written, The Lord thy God thou shalt bow to, and Him only thou shalt serve.’

    The Temptation of Jesus
…9“All this I will give You,” he said, “if You will fall down and worship me.” 10“Away from Me, Satan! Jesus declared. “For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.’

In the Ten Commandments, one is implored to obey parents (your mother* and your father). Jesus says to call noone Father on earth because you have one father — in heaven.
    (Matthew 23:9)

    * My mother has largely brought me pain, and continues to do so after my dad is gone.

I listened to a talk on Isaiah 40:5 today.

    The word is “Comfort.”
