I’ve been using the classic block and I just sort of ignore what gets in the way. There’s a lot of stuff we don’t need for blogging. I hope you’ll find the same approach works on the phone.

I’ve tried it on the phone and it’s not a good user experience because there’s just not enough real estate on a small screen to make it truly viable.

Yep, I got switched off yesterday.
Trying to find how to switch to the classic block to give it a whirl.
Hope you can find something that works for you Fandango

Same as Fakebook, they changed the format of that and it’s rubbish. These people don’t seem to know the old adage, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. 😡

I was struggling this morning in WP-Admin because it kept throwing me into the block editor. I finally realized there was a drop down box that let me choose which editor to use. I have noticed even when editing an old post, you must select the classic editor to edit or it will throw you i to the block editor there, too. It is crapola.

And if you want to copy and old post, that also throws you into the block editor with no option to use the classic editor. It most definitely is crapola.

Learn and adapt. I learned and adapted to the new Farcebook by deactivating my account and so far I’m damn glad of it. The block editor annoyed the shit out of me too but I did find it is now easier to include pictures, unless I was doing it wrong before anyway, which is entirely possible. Anyway, as suggested above, if it ain’t broke, the snot-nosed kids hired to maintain software will find some way to fuck with their elders regardless. Plus you don’t get performance bonuses by leaving well enough alone.

Wow, that sucks. They haven’t forced it on me on PC as of yet. Not sure about the iPhone app as I haven’t tried creating a post on there yet. I really hope you aren’t leaving because of this, although maybe if a ton of us left, that’d help the bastards learn a lesson. I doubt it though.

I feel so dumb asking this, but what was it like before? I have not been on wordpress long enough to know any different.

It was more like a word processor. You type your text, format it, align it, add images if you want. Very clean, easy, and intuitive. And, for me, easy to compose and publish my posts using my iPhone, which the block editor definitely is not. I just want something that enables me to concentrate on the content of my posts, not on the mechanics of writing and posting them. And that’s what it was like before.

lol – I think that was always a given.
I would be more annoyed about the block editor if it wasn’t for the situation at work. They put in new computers with new software – what an incredible nightmare for the entire practice. It has slowed us down so much. We lost so many important documents and bookmarked webpages that we used everyday. The enormous challenge of learning to use the new software at work is a much bigger deal for me than the WordPress headache. I wish they would take away the new computers and bring back the old ones – do you think they are going to do that?
