Anyway, Rory asks:
How large is your shelved book collection?
I don’t have a shelved book collection anymore. I’ve picked up and moved so many times in my life, that lugging a collection of moldy old books hither and yon didn’t make much sense. So now I have a collection of a couple of hundred or so ebooks on the Kindle app on my iPhone.
Do you actually have a shelved collection of hard copy books or a digital collection only or both?
See above. My entire book collection these days is digital.
Are you willing to show an image of your collection in the shelves?

Just looked at my kindle folders for a tally… nearly 3k lol. One can never have too many ebooks.

I am imagining that when I move from this big house, many of my books will not move with me.

I gave some away to friends, donated some to my local library, and hauled the rest to my local Goodwill store.

I agree with Teresa, you can’t have too many books. And hers is one we share! Of course ebooks are so much more portable, although I still prefer the feel of paper.

I have twelve floor to ceiling bookcases that are packed full of my favorites. I only keep the ones that I really like. There is nothing more exciting than bringing new books home. I have a loaded Kindle, but holding a book is magical.

Ah Mr. Fandango. You’ve reached that happy place that many of us only envision – freedom from the tangible book. I’ll never get there because I simply love the feel and smell of a REALLY REAL book, the mustiness of old pages, the heft of such a thing in my hands, and the comfort they bring me, dating back to a time when comfort for me was rare, and a book provided a family and a much needed friend. The people I leave behind when I toddle off to that big library in the sky (with dogs being allowed in there of course), will no doubt curse me. I’m intrigued by some of the titles in your library and will attempt to obtain those for myself…specifically 101 Really Short Stories and “The Neon Lawyer”. I’ve read 1984 (in tangible form). It’s fascinating to see some titles…say! That’d be a heck-uva blog topic some time….what unusual book titles are in YOUR personal library? Hmmmm.

My dad built a floor to ceiling full wall bookshelf that is FULL of paperback. Sad thing is now paperbacks are a different size and wont fit on those special shelves. I just can’t imagine I will ever go all digital… I love the feel of a book.
