it’s syr*u*p, isn’t it? My comment looks wrong as I reread it. We say “squash” here, even though squashes are also a family of vegetables. The French also say syrup.
I prefer still water.

I can’t help but think of MASH and the concoction they used to make in the still…. that kind of “still water” comes in handy when stressed!
