#100WW — It Didn’t Have To Be This Way

It used to be majestic
It used to be serene
It used to a tranquil
It used to be peaceful
It used to be beautiful
A sanctuary for birds and animals

Now it’s burning
Flames reaching the sky
Smoke choking the air
The birds are not chirping
The animals are not scurrying
It’s no longer majestic
It’s no longer serene
It’s no longer tranquil
It’s no longer peaceful
It’s no longer beautiful

It’s our fault
The signs were there
But we chose to ignore them
To deny it and call it a hoax

It didn’t have to be this way

So disappointing. Well expressed. It’s important for us to admit when something is our fault.

So true – and my thoughts as I posted the image for last week. We were inundated with the smoke from the fires burning in California and the Pacific Northwest. We were fortunate to not have the fire itself, but the smoke was unbearable outside. Since then, it’s rained and the smoke has cleared for us in Seattle, but I’m still feeling under the weather from inhalation. I can’t imagine what it’s like not being able to get away from it all…and the devastating loss of trees, life, and all…

Thank you for joining us again this week 🖤

It is so depression what is happening to the entire west coast with the fires. So much damage and distruction. I hope they can get the fires under control soon. This was a powerful piece Fandango!
