“Actually,” Cindy responded, “it was disappointing. She’s a wonderful mystery writer, but she was totally obnoxious.”
“I’m sorry,” Jane said. “What did she do that was so offensive?”
“It’s hard to put my finger on it,” Cindy said, “but she came across so full of herself, like she expected me to get down on my knees and kiss her ring for autographing her book that I just paid twenty dollars for. It really made me bristle.”
“Whoa, she sounds like a real bitch,” Jane agreed.
“That’s what was so disappointing,” Cindy said. “She’s a great writer, but she’s also a pious asshole.”
“Such a shame,” Jane said. “But did she sign your book?”
Beaming, Cindy said, “Of course,” holding up her autographed copy of the book for Jane to see.
