I hope it really is a rolling blackout, which will last about an hour, and not a blown transformer, in which case it could take till tomorrow to fix!

Nope. It’s been 3 1/2 hours and “crews are on-site.” So something was blown.

In my country, we had power shutdowns for years every summer. Sometimes half hour every two hours. Now thankfully things are way better, touch wood.

San Diego Gas & Electric just sent out a notice indicating that we are in Stage 2 Flex Alert, meaning that if things don’t improve there will be outages. They stated that the reason is two-fold — the fires are affecting the supply lines (perhaps here more than in the Bay Area), and a major supply line from Oregon to California went down this afternoon (cause unknown!). I think I’ll go to bed early!

Me too, but it will be a hot night. Over four hours with no power.

If you live in California, it seems that scheduled rolling blackouts or unscheduled power outages seems to be a way of life.

We had a whole state power out just a couple of years ago. So now I’m prepared. Battery operated fans, they’re mainly little though -.- But, you just sit there, it works. There are lot of usb fans, but then you either have to use your computer, which will drain it batteries. However you can get portable usbs. Again, you need to make sure it’s charged though. Wet towels on your forehead. Naked runs!

My utter and complete sympathies. It’s 110 in the freakin shade and one has to endure no power with that??! Cruel and unusual punishment! But did ya have to SHARE it? Because as I was fixin’ to read your excellent post here, the power went out up in here too! O_o Now that’s just weird as hell. Fortunately it’s only 95 here…it was 100+ on Saturday. It’s September (as you pointed out in a recent post) so what the HELL??

Good thing to see you have a generator on the way. We were lucky here when the derecho went through and knocked out power it wasn’t blazing hot. Hope it is beginning to cool down some.
