The Little Princess

124D3EBB-A5B4-4930-9EF3-AB9B789850E9Introducing Princess Adele,” Sharon said to her friends as her four year old daughter came into the living room. “Doesn’t she look precious in the princess dress I made for her for Halloween?”

There were a lot of oohs and ahhs from the small group of women in Sharon’s living room. “I didn’t know you could sew so well,” one of the women said.

“Did you follow a pattern?” another woman asked.

“How long did it take you to make the dress?” a third woman asked.

“Yes, I followed a pattern, but not being a seamstress, I felt like I was working my way through a complicated maze,” Sharon admitted. “But once I figured it out, it actually came together very quickly.”

“Mommy,” Adele said, “I have to go to the bathroom. Can you take off my princess dress?”

“Of course, sweetie,” Sharon said, “but first take a curtsy so that your subjects can exalt your presence, your royal highness.”

That was even a bit much for four year old Adele, who did an exaggerated eye roll while dutifully performing a curtsy for her Mom’s friends.

SoCS — More, More, More

4C0C7DC3-4B67-4B3A-B683-8E0059E54049More Americans, by far, have contracted COVID-19 than the citizens of any other country in the world.

More Americans, by far, have died from COVID-19 than the citizens of any other country in the world.

More than 66% of Americans believe that Donald Trump is doing a poor job handling the coronavirus pandemic.

More than 74% of Americans believe that Donald Trump is taking America in the wrong direction.

America currently has a higher unemployment rate than most other developed nations.

Yet, on average, polls show Donald Trump still has the backing of more than 40% of Americans.

Please, can anyone help me understand why that is and why Trump still has a chance to be re-elected in November?

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Written for this week’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt from Linda G. Hill. We are asked to start our post with the word “more.”

FOWC with Fandango — Precious

FOWCWelcome to August 1, 2020 and to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). It’s designed to fill the void after WordPress bailed on its daily one-word prompt.

I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (US).

Today’s word is “precious.”

Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.

Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Please check to confirm that your pingback is there. If not, please manually add your link in the comments.

And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. You will marvel at their creativity.
