They’re always telling me to stay in the shallows. It’s dangerous, they say, to be on the rocks. I’ll end up getting stomped, they say, by two-legged giants. But what do they know? I’ve seen my friends explore those wire baskets in the shallows only to be hauled up and never to be seen again.
Besides, my blue shell matches the color of the rocks, so if I stay perfectly still, the two-legged giants don’t notice me.
Wait, one of the small giants is reaching down and picking me. He’s running to show his friends what he’s found. I’m doomed.
