It’s time for another Who Won the Week prompt. The idea behind Who Won the Week is for you to select who (or what) you think “won” this past week. Your selection can be anyone or anything — politicians, celebrities, athletes, authors, bloggers, your friends or family members, books, movies, TV shows, businesses, organizations, whatever.

As much as it pains me to do so, I’m declaring that Roger Stone won the week. Who is Roger Stone you ask? Well, I’ll tell you. Stone is an American conservative political consultant, lobbyist, and convicted felon who was convicted on seven counts, including witness tampering and lying to federal investigators. On February 20, 2020, he was sentenced to 40 months in federal prison.
A political operative since the late 60s, Stone has worked on the campaigns of Republican politicians, including Richard Nixon’s and Donald Trump’s. He’s been described as a “self-proclaimed dirty trickster,” a “renowned infighter,”a “seasoned practitioner of hard-edged politics,” a “mendacious windbag,” a “veteran Republican strategist,” and a “political fixer.”
With respect to Trump’s campaign, Stone lied to Congress about foreign interference in the 2016 election and having pressured a witness to do the same. Stone was the person who gave the Trump campaign its first heads up about Julian Assange’s and Wikileaks’ ability to upend U.S. politics by publishing its cache of damaging materials hacked by Russia, that would go on to cripple Hillary Clinton’s White House bid.
Well, this week the most corrupt president since Richard Nixon, commuted Roger Stone’s prison sentence, essentially making Stone a free man. How long will it be before Stone gets a tattoo of Donald Trump on his back to match his Richard Nixon tattoo?

You are surely correct. The thing that bothers me most about this is the contrast with George Floyed, who was accused, but never even proven guilty because of the police brutality, because he was accused of passing a counterfeit $20. The extremely dishonest traitor to America has been set free…No wonder people are protesting for justice.

I recently heard that Chauvin’s wife once wrote a bad check (meaning it bounced) for forty dollars. Of course, she’s alive and free. Subsequent to his being arrested, she’s also filed for divorce. I recall a report of her having said, prior to the murder of Floyd, something along the lines that her husband is really a sweet person.
Okay, I just looked it up. “Under all that uniform, he’s just a softie. He’s such a gentleman. ….” When I first heard it, it reminded me of a drunk man some years ago who was interrupting everyone’s enjoyment of a great concert — and his significant other (wife or what have you) repeatedly saying to others, “It’s alright.“
Time is really ripe to protest all the idiocy we’ve put up with. This Stone is a particularly disgusting picture, from his political behaviors over a number of decades to his “personal” life. He’s another dot in the constellation of the current president’s disgustingness as an individual. Trump befriends the likes of Epstein, this guy, and so on.

Being with bad people requires a delusional “it’s really not as bad as all that” sort of bubble. I feel that people who voted for the Difficult Toddler are really amping that up right now. He appeals most to those who value bravado over intelligence. The strength of being able to admit that one was mistaken is lacking, both in those who voted and in the current incumbent of the White House.
That is one of the things I like about Joe Biden. While not perfect, as no human being will ever be, he owns his mistakes and works to do better in the future. He is also a genuinely caring man, who cares about those beyond his circle. I get the feeling he is distressed about the American lives lost due to Covid that could have been prevented. I do not get that feeling from the current incumbent of the White House.

I would say for a last minute entry it was me and my family… I can preserve the family heritage now that I got all 5000 pictures (mainly) and poems I had saved on a faulty flash drive back. Not sure how my friend did it but he recovered them all. So those old family photos I scanned in and saved are there. The grandparents 50th anniversary. Pictures of my mom and dad who are both gone now. Childhood pictures of my daughter. And a fair amount of poems I wrote before I made it here to Word Press to write my poems. I am one happy camper!
