At the risk of sounding uncultured, I’ve done thousands of horoscopes and NEVER did I use this word. An opposition is called an opposition. Really. Maybe they used this word a few hundred years ago, but it is NOT used now. Ever.

I’d never heard of the word either, so I had to Google it and it’s defined as “either of the two positions (conjunction or opposition) of a celestial body when sun, earth, and the body lie in a straight line.” As someone commented, it’s a great word to know if you’re playing Scrabble.
