I’ve made a decision. I’m going to throw caution to the wind. I’m going to stop posting about Trump and about politics. I know what you’re thinking: finally! Let me explain.
We have a leader who doesn’t understand what it means to demonstrate leadership. And the empirical evidence shows that Trump has turned what he called the swamp into a zoo filled with corrupt, incompetent sycophants.
But you all know that. Deep down inside, even you Republicans know that he’s destroying the Republic. But people are gonna believe what they’re gonna believe and do what they’re gonna do, no matter what the reality is.
So I’m tired of pissing in the wind. Nobody gives a shit what Fandango thinks, anyway. Enough is enough. I’m calling it quits. No more posts about politics or about Trump. I promise.
For now, anyway.

I heard a rumor today that some of the Republican leaders are thinking about pressuring Trump to resign and will then put up Nikki Haley as their candidate this year.

I got absentee voter paperwork in the mail last week. They had boxes to check for whether I want to vote absentee for the august election, the november election, or both. Because of C-19, I checked both boxes. What was most troubling about the form was another box: would you like to vote absentee for all further elections? My stomach started churning. I hesitated at the november box and had a major balk at “all further elections.” You know how easy it is to tamper with electronic voting machines, but at least there are signatures on the small sheets when you go in and your name is highlighted in the printout, and I’m sure other checks and balances that make it seem like its on the up and up. If you remove those and just send in a piece of paper that may or may not get “lost in the mail”….
During the last half of March, all of April, and half of May, I’d be lucky if the mailman showed up a couple of times a week. Headlines are screaming that the post office is on the verge of bankruptcy. And now they want to switch voters over to all absentee? Something stinks here, and I don’t like it.

I’ve voted by mail since I first moved to California a decade ago. There’s a website from the local Board of Elections where you can go to to see if your mail-in ballot was received and if it was processed and recorded.

That is a big relief. Of course it doesn’t tell you how you voted, does it? I think it should if you sign in with a password.

No, not how you voted, but that your vote was counted.

I think some people are afraid their vote won’t be counted if they vote or attempt to vote by mail (I’ve had that worry), while others are talking like they’re concerned too many people will vote.

I’ve voted by mail once before. But I’m not aware there was any way to know it was counted. This year, though, I hear there is a way to find out at least that it was received or when it was received.

I haven’t known you for very long but somehow I doubt you will be able to restrain yourself as the election draws closer. It’s good to have a place to vent anyway.

Truly don’t think he caused it. There was a disease in our society – lack of care for others, belief that “freedom” means you can do whatever you want whenever you want no matter who it hurts, belief that “freedom” means you can sue someone every time you don’t get your way, and most importantly a lack of respect for education – that was already spreading unchecked. He is on an extreme end of those beliefs. The extreme rich end, which means he got into power and is able to shine the microscope on our deep rooted societal problems, exposing and nourishing them at the same time.

I hope you’re writing for the prompt(s) and you’re not serious. Sure people care about what YOU think, you’re sort of a pressure gauge/valve for me, you do the heavy lifting (reading and listening to what that waste of toxic skin is doing and saying. I can’t, so I come read what Fandango is saying about it and I go away informed, without having a stroke. Reporters (whether professional ((and what reporter IS professional these days??)) or amateur) are never popular with everyone. One thing I will say is that they’re brave. They DARE to say the unthinkable aloud and tell us about what otherwise might go unheralded. You keep writing about politics or any damned thing you like. You got an audience, an APPRECIATIVE one.

I care about what Fandango thinks. I hear more about Trump and what he’s done from you than what I can stomach of the “news” anymore. I can usually get through local news and that is about it, forget the network stuff. Take a break, but I hope you are here to guide us through November at least!
