“When you mix politics and science, you get politics.”
American author and historian John M. Barry
I think the past three years, since the election of Donald Trump, perhaps the most demonstratively anti-science president in modern times, have demonstrated just how true this quote is.
Written for this week’s One-Liner Wednesday prompt from Linda G. Hill.
Definitely the truest quote I’ve read today. The sheer volume of science deniers in politics these days is astounding.

Ugh, yes, so true. Here in the Netherlands, thankfully the science-deniers aren’t in government. At least, not yet.

…and when you mix bad politics with fake science, you get 60,000-plus deaths—and mounting.

And he takes no responsibility. It’s not his fault. It’s the fault of the Chinese, the Democrats, Obama, Hillary, the Press, science, immigrants, and anyone or anything but himself. He’s done a great job. Nobody could have done as great a job as he has. 🤮

Great article, seriously all politicians need to be screened for a good foundation in understanding science and the importance of it.

I couldn’t agree more. But it will never happen, sadly.
